….., “Haye barely beat Valuev.” … Barely???

Haye beat Valuev almost as convincingly as Chisora beat Helenius, and Chambers beat Dimitrenko… Don’t go by the scorecards, watch the fight.. When you’re talking about valuable World Championships, often you have to beat somebody by a lot … to win by a little.

They will rob you blind over there…

Over here too of course…. This is Boxing, and those titles are money-in-the-bank.

Fury is no Klitschko, and, Fury is no Valuev either, Fury is somewhere in between. His ability to fight BIG and mix it up and be a rough houser will be trouble for Haye. Haye will be hoping to land a lucky haymaking bomb, and if he does not, Fury is going to take him to the cleaners.

Like someone mentioned earlier on this site was that many true 220 lb. heavies can go down to cruiser and rehydrate back come their ring entry. So just because someone has fought as cruiser doesn’t make him a “blown up ” one but rather a natural heavy. Haye fights as a heavy and within the weight category now. Raise Cruiser to 220 and you would be seeing 245 pound fighters by fight night as “Cruisers”.

Posted July 11, 2013 8:21 am

@patrick2. My take on valuev haye is that haye executed his game plan perfectly and won easy. Boring fight that it was. Fury is no klitschko not even in his dreams could he dare to think that. Fury may present some problems but those low hanging hands and lack of ring craft means haye will dine out.

Posted July 11, 2013 5:17 am

Haye and the Klitschkos make the other heavyweights look bad, but they would beat any other fighter in the history of the heavyweight division.

Posted July 10, 2013 11:32 pm

@ Fight Aficionado — “He is also a blown up Cruiser who struggled with REALLY big opponents. All that said, Fury ain’t no Klitchko.” – Remember Haye barely beat the lumbering Valuev, whose only attribute was being very big. Someone mentioned Harrison which is funny given that was a cash-out fight by a guy who didn’t throw a single punch. Fury likes to fight.

Exactly my point FA! Haye has a history of struggling against the big guys of the division. And too many seem to have forgotten the Haye that did ABSOLUTELY nothing against Klitschko (made even worse by of about year of acting/talking like he was a killer — and was going to destroy him) — I’ve been watching boxing for about 40 years, and that was one of the weakest [non-]performances I’ve witnessed.

I don’t know… maybe Haye will be motivated — as he seems to gunning for another Klitschko payday. I’m just saying don’t be surprised if Fury derails his plans with a 6′ 9″ 270-pound KO punch.

Haye is a Homo..?? I did not know that !!!

Posted July 10, 2013 8:18 pm

Fury ain’t no Klitschko, but he ain’t a Valuev either, he is some where in between. He will fight big at 6’9″ tall with Haye and give Haye a real problem with his rough house style of fight. I think Fury takes Haye to the cleaners in this one. Haye is not the great boxer alot of Htards say he is. He loops his haymakers, which is why his nickname is haymaker, and he leads with his face with his left hand at his balls. Fury takes Toe Jam in this fight….in my opinion. At any rate it will be a fun fight for fans of both sides…………..

It’s gotten so bad in the heayweight division that I’m actually cheering for Haye to win. Cheering for the best of the worst I guess and never thought I’d see someone more obnoxious than Haye. Hell I hope they knock each other out and both get lifetime lockjaw.

Exiled Yank

Since when does Haye let others do the talking? That will be a first.

Posted July 10, 2013 5:26 pm

I hope Fury uses all the negative as bulletin board material and give Haye a beating. Haye is all wildness with his no look prayer shot, hopefully Fury is smart enough to study that.

Posted July 10, 2013 3:43 pm

This one SHOULD be comfortable for Haye. That said, Fury isn’t a total no-talent. Haye is good. Arrogant and an arsehole, but good. He is also a blown up Cruiser who struggled with REALLY big opponents. All that said, Fury ain’t no Klitchko. Haye by KO cos he should be just too fast for a somewhat lumbering Tyson Fury. Now what odds can I get on this? Looks VERY easy money.

O Really O’ Reilly

I think Haye KO’s Fury. Having said that, most of the wankers on here thought Haye would do the same to Wlad and they thought Hatton would beat Mayweather. LOL

Only question is,will fury survive the first round or not….harrison-haye again, but it won’t last that long

“Fury had to take this fight. Haye went public and forced Fury to sign the contract. It’ll be an good scrap.” – Not really. Fury had been calling Haye out for months and berating him at Twitter. Haye only woke up a month ago. I do agree this will be an action fight.

Cant wait for the build up to this one, Fury is a complete TW4T, but he talks a good fight, Haye should put him in a coma by about round 4.

Just to keep up with the Fury dynasty, Baby Hughie is fighting 39-year old Croatian veteran, Ivica Perkovic on Friday in Belfast; Darren Corbett has been replaced. Perkovic 19 (14 KOs)-20 (KO’d 7) has fought the likes of Bidenko, Pianeta, Larsen, Ustinov, and Dimitrenko among others. Look for cousin Tyson to be in Hugie’s corner.

Fury had to take this fight. Haye went public and forced Fury to sign the contract. It’ll be an good scrap. If all goes to plan, Fury gets knocked out in 3 or 4 rounds.

Posted July 10, 2013 9:41 am

Big props to Fury for taking this fight because it’s surely a suicide mission. I just can’t think of a scenario where Fury wins this… if he literally smothers Haye, he may have a chance (i.e. don’t really throw on the way in and just walk Haye down, then work entirely on the inside).
The minute Fury reaches a hand out a little too far, he’s getting hit and he’s getting hit hard (and based on the Cunningham fight, he probably won’t survive too many of those shots). He doesn’t have the feet of Klitschko to avoid the Haye counters.

Posted July 10, 2013 9:38 am

Haye gonna win against Fury – everytime!! Its not just about power, hearts, guts – its about BRAINS, how a boxer thinks inside the ring while fighting….. Haye has got quick reflexes and is a fast thinker thats why he can fight guys far bigger than him and still have a decent chance to beat them. A good heart and chin can only get you somewhere but when you are faced with a good fast thinker you are literally a PUNCHBAG. Fury loses not because of his heart,or his chin,or his experience – he loses this fight because he cant think as fast as Haye. Simple as.

Patrick2, Comparing Klitschko to Fury isnt the way forward as I could throw Audley Harrisons name out there. Wlad and Fury used height and range very differently with Wlad having a very safety first, alomst lean back style and works behind the jab. Fury is not Wlad and this fight will end badly for him. You are calling this fight by putting Furys in Wlad’s shoes and that isnt right is it. Steward sadly isnt there too teach Fury so how will he be able to use Emmanuals gameplan? Haye is the best British Heavyweight by some way and he will bang through Fury and KO him. Tyson is a big lad but he doesn’t have the goods. Have you ever seen Wlad uppercut himself mid fight?

Posted July 10, 2013 8:07 am

Dan Adams

Most are totally underestimating Fury. I’m not saying Tyson is going to win, but this will be a back-and-forth battle, during which both men will have their moments. This fight will not be one-sided either way, despite the mass of contrary initial reactions posted here. I’m looking forward to this one.

Posted July 10, 2013 7:58 am

This is a good fight and props to the 24 year old fury for taking it.
Stop whining People, this would be fun. I don’t like haye ore fury, they derserve eachother and should be fun to seeing the build up between the 2

Fury lacks the technique and discipline to compete against hate. Sorry, hate.

Posted July 10, 2013 6:40 am

I agree with the author but not with his view that Fluffy will win the press conference. Haye is too smart of the fool…. Fluffy will sound off but Haye is too astute and sharp for the DUMB (_?_)

Posted July 10, 2013 6:07 am

if he fights with his hands down like in the picture Haye will put him to sleep.

Posted July 10, 2013 5:15 am

Yep I agree. Haye will win this by KO – in whatever round he chooses..

Posted July 10, 2013 4:53 am

Patrick2…., “If he lets Fury use his height and reach all night, Haye is toast”

Not really… Fury easily outboxed Kevin Johson all night, but USS Cunningham wasn’t impressed when he reviewed that fight.. USS was getting great work done at long range.. He easily jabbed and darted straight rights to Fury’s chin.. Johnson was so worried about getting hit he never threw but Cunningham threw all the time, and it was working until Fury changed up and started brawling.. Fury became Joe Frazier in there — and Steve didn’t have the physical strength to deal with the tactic.

Haye will also outbox Fury.. But when Tyson starts to brawl, Haye will clobber him.. Haye is so strong Fury won’t believe it until he feels it.. DH is 215 pounds of hair and bones … He doesn’t even want an ounce of fat on him for a fight, so he can be as fast and strong as possible.

Posted July 10, 2013 2:46 am

@ Mongrel

Seeing as Fury the Lugie is open to uppercuts Haye should just move behind him and throw them up under the lugie’s armpit. Should not be hard to get there is lugie’s is as slow as a Giant Galapagos Tortoise on a diet of Scotch and Valium. Maybe he should park a brand new periwinkle blue caravan just outside the ring to distract lugie into thinking about a new home.

Posted July 10, 2013 12:46 am

Would not bet money oh Haye? Chisora coming of surgery and out of shape almost knocked out Fury, Cunningham put Fury on his ass, Haye will put Fury to sleep. Haye by KO first round.

Posted July 9, 2013 11:48 pm

Mongrel – If Haye ran with that footage at the press conference it would be hilarious, even more so if Fury ran footage of Haye complaining about his toe after losing to Wlad, or him getting KO’d by Thompson…

Posted July 9, 2013 11:35 pm

Another of Fury’s weakness is that he needs to pull his shorts up every time he throws more than one punch.

I wouldn`t put it past Haye to be able to catch Fury with a bomb trying to lug those oversize pantalons up over his love handles.

Posted July 9, 2013 10:54 pm

Fury won`t win the press conferences. He`s a bipolar, godbothering pikey who is inconsistent, impulsive and lacking in any rudimentary intelligence.

He is at his most comical when he is trying to be serious, unaware that everyone is laughing at him and not with him.

Fury is a used car salesman, while Haye is a corporate businessman.

Haye should just turn up at the pressers and run a loop of Fury uppercutting himself, with the Benny Hill music playing, point at it and laugh.

If I was Haye I`d also highlight Fury’s foul tactic of continuously bringing a glove up to one nostril before blowing snot all over the ring, I presume in the hopes of having his opponent get stuck in the filthy nose-slime.

Posted July 9, 2013 10:52 pm

I think people are making too much about Furys size in this fight.. depends if he fights tall or not. Guys saying crap like ” Hayes too small to get inside” Really?? He isn’t any smaller than cunningham, and he had no problem. If Fury fights the same as he did against Cunningham…. He’ll get wrecked in less then 6. Haye is a much harder puncher, and if he lands the same shot on Tyson that Steve landed… the loud mout wont get up. Haye by brutal knock out!

Posted July 9, 2013 10:05 pm

I understand not liking Fury. He is annoying. But I wouldn’t bet money on Haye in this fight. Though Fury is still far from polished, if he uses his physical size well and doesn’t get stupid he could easily win this fight. Haye has to hope the warrior spirit of Fury causes him to get careless so he can capitalize. Like I said, it’s Fury’s fight to lose.

Posted July 9, 2013 9:34 pm

Tomato Can

Nope, but I bet he lands a huge hook on Fury’s chin. That’s all I’m banking on in this fight.

Posted July 9, 2013 9:17 pm

If I was Haye I would piss Fury off prior to the fight — get him mad as hell. Then hope Fury takes the bait, cuts the distance, leans in and goes for an early KO. If Haye can dodge his heavy but slow hands, and use his speed and decent power (only decent at heavyweight) he could land something big and end it. Otherwise, if he lets Fury use his height and reach all night, Haye is toast.

Posted July 9, 2013 9:16 pm

And Haye is no modern-day (6′ 5″ + / 250 pound +) heavyweight.

Posted July 9, 2013 9:05 pm

Tomato Can

Fury is no Klitschko.

Posted July 9, 2013 9:04 pm

The fight is really Fury’s fight to lose.

Posted July 9, 2013 8:52 pm

Dan, Klitschko is 6’6″ with an 81″ reach. And Haye couldn’t get to him. Fury is 6′ 9″ with an 85″ reach. Haye’s problem is he’s way undersized for these colossal giants and once in the ring with them he isn’t willing to throw caution to the wind. Haye’s chance is Fury likes to give up his huge height and reach advantage by bending down/leaning in when he exchanges. That’s why if Fury follows an Emanuel Stewart gameplan, uses that height/reach and throws a stiff jab, Haye’s goose is cooked. Haye will spend the night riding his bike around the ring — and lose on the score cards. Or he’ll try to get through that jab and he will get KO’d.

Posted July 9, 2013 8:51 pm

Tomato can, agreed. Fury actually held Cunninghams hands down, which I thought was illegal?

Posted July 9, 2013 8:28 pm

Dan D

Patrick2 I think you post is a little daft but you are entitled to your opinion. Point 1 you have a point, at Heavyweight, all fighters need to show respect til they have felt the other guys shot. It’s a fact that any Heavyweight could likely knock any man out with a good clean shot, it’s being good enough to land. Point 3 was just nonsense to me. Haye hits like a mule kicks, the guy has power and his KO ratio proves that. Point 4, Fury will not be able to use height and reach as he lacks the speed. Haye will out gun him early, I’m betting on that.

Posted July 9, 2013 8:27 pm

If Cunningham had Hayes power he would have koed Fury too.

Posted July 9, 2013 8:26 pm

I’ll take Haye by knockout within three rounds.

Posted July 9, 2013 8:24 pm

Fury will go earlier than expected, 2 rounds is my guess. Haye opened up on Enzo quickly and I expect him to get to Fury early too. He will have respect for the first minute but Tyson will be there to hit all night long. Hate by KO and then we get the Klitschko rematch…

Posted July 9, 2013 8:22 pm

Fists of Fuzzy

At last Fury gets what is coming to him. He can’t hide from this one due to being backed into a corner from dodging every challenge asked of him. Haye will even get a full training camp unlike most of Fury opponents who are asked to fight on 2-3 weeks notice. This glass jawed, pillow biting, feather fisted, nancy, uncoordinated, fairy, dim-witted, slow, sloppy bodied, back door bandit finally gets exposed for the POS he is.

Posted July 9, 2013 8:22 pm

Good article. I agree. Fury is reallly nothing, seriously. Haye is much more experienced and a much stronger puncher. Haye by K.O. Both will be lose to either Klitchko.

Stupid fight. But its happening anyway

Posted July 9, 2013 7:36 pm

Haye is a very masterful boxer… He spent a long time at cruiserweight… The biggest problem is his size. But Chisora had 40 pounds on Haye and it made no difference in the world because of David’s strength and punching power … I look for Fury too start brawling contemptously like he did with Cunningham in an attempt to beat Haye down with sheer size, strength, toughness, and power … Fury is a bully at heart.

I don’t think Fury will ever flag… But he will get knocked out. It’s Chris Paul vs George Mikan.

Posted July 9, 2013 6:31 pm

Fury has fought carelessly in the past because he could (or at least thought he could before suffering 2 knockdowns in different fights), but I think he will fight a much more disciplined fight and win. Haye was peeing his pants against the tall Wladimir, I think he may try to bum rush Tyson a few times, but that’s about it. Fury by UD.

Posted July 9, 2013 6:00 pm

Fury hopefuly late does what he did to Cunningham would love it if he did hate has ripped to many people off now I hope its payback time

Posted July 9, 2013 5:54 pm

Great. Now we have to suffer through haye and Thompson getting their ass kicked by a Klit. Again. I really wanted to see Price as something other than a tall, horizontal heavy–now the same goes for Furry. There’s always the other Furry.

Posted July 9, 2013 5:53 pm

I’ve seen fury tagged atleast once in every fight with the overhand right, chisora, cunningham etc. Its obviously not unusual for guys his size, if his chin can sustain a couple of those from haye I give him a chance, when haye fights big guys that becomes his crutch and he seems to forget to throw anything else.

Posted July 9, 2013 5:51 pm

I’m hoping Tyson can pull this off, but my money would be on Haye.

Posted July 9, 2013 5:05 pm

Haye should win, but he is a part time fighter. That could hurt him, especially at this stage of his career.

Posted July 9, 2013 4:47 pm

Fury and Price both get in trouble easily from getting hit, the difference is that Price had no idea what to do but Fury does. Fury can function in la-la land, and he even comes back well. I don’t think he can last 12 rounds without Haye getting him with a too-hard shot, though.

He comes up with some real zingers.

Posted July 9, 2013 3:30 pm

Tyson’s got a lot of potential but I hope Haye will shut his dirty mouth. If he turns up in the same shape he did against Chisora it shouldn’t be a problem. Should the upset happen Wladimir will do the job someday.

Two bums collide. I like that except it isn’t true. Neither of these guys are bums, as much as I hate the term. Fury can come again, haye has more to lose, but if he is on form I expect him to win this one I’m afraid. Fury still learning his reach currently exceeding his grasp.

Posted July 9, 2013 2:36 pm

This pundit says…, “The fight itself promises to be a rather easy one for Haye.”

No it won’t be easy.. Fury is 6’9″ X 250.. He has speed and power and he’s far better than the fighter he was 3 years ago.. He dominated Kevin Johnson and literally beat the crap out USS Cunningham — a guy who pretty much beat Tomasz Adamek.. Don’t let a careless moment in the Cunningham fight give you the impression that Fury isn’t for real. He doesn’t like “little s**t 6’3″ X 210lb heavyweights.” He’s a very judicious campaigner and wouldn’t dream of taking this fight if he didn’t think he was going to overpower a small heavyweight like Haye.. You’re going to see one angry, pissed off Fury on fight night.

I believe Haye will win if he doesn’t screw up in training and injure himself.. He has a tendency to train so intensively that he breaks, stains, or sprains something.. He’s fighting guys 40 or 50lbs heavier than him so he feels the only equilizers he has beyond speed, skill, and firepower, are greater strength and conditioning — and he goes to great extremes.

If he shows up in one piece and 100% healthy, I expect Haye to win by KO after a brutal 8 to 10 rounds.. He’s chopping down a giant … and this ain’t no Audley Harrison.

Posted July 9, 2013 2:31 pm

the voice of reason

In order for fury to win he has to utilize his size. when he started doing that against cunningham then cunningham ceased to be a problem. If he stands off and tries to box haye will eventually catch him and itll be all over. Fury has to push and bully the guy, lean all over him all the time. if he fights that way then he can win
