Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

murderman: I have to agree with you about that, player. I too have tremendous respect for what Ole Popkins has accomplished throughout his career — especially considering he’s been fighting the best Light HWs at his age. However, I’ve just never liked watching his style so have never paid a dime to see him fight. Never will either! May sound mean to Hopkins’ fans, but I’d like to see him finally get KTFO by either Adonis or SK because I think it’s time for the man to retire already.

@squared circle- lets go w sk. N when bhop n stevenson fight ill go w stevenson. Somebody will retire bhop. Prob be stevenson. Bhop is a o.g. n i respect his accomplishments. But i rather watch paint dry then see him fight! Damn sure wont pay to see it!

Hmmm, is Stevenson that good? Is Dawson that shot? Is Donvan George better then many think? Or is this just one of those things, lucky punch, quick stoppage?

Adonis is going to open the Pugilist KOrner tomorrow night at 9PM EST…if anyone has questions they would like the champ to answer on the air, please list them along with their ESB moniker.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

murderman: I’ve only seen Cornelius White fight once. He got knocked down three times in the 1st round and stopped by Super MW Donovan George — who has good power, but is NOT a Class-A fighter. Although White has impressive power himself, it appears that his chin is vulnerable.

I’ve watched Sergey Kovalev’s last three fights and was very impressed each time. This guy has like an 86% KO ratio and actually killed a guy in the ring in 2011. So when you hear analysts say he has “murderous” power…. they’re not exaggerating. SK also had about 215 amateur fights, so is WAY more experienced than CW. (He has a highlight reel on YouTube if you want a preview.)

Prediction: Kovalev by brutal stoppage inside of 3 rounds.

So, IMO Ole Popkins will have to decide whether or not he wants to fight SK before he has to make a decision about Adonis. Both have scary power, so Popkins might be in trouble either way. Who do you like??

Really this fight could be Pacquiao/Hatton all over again.

@ squared circle – thats goin to be a good scrap! Who do u like?

Joseph, thanks for asking the question for me, I appreciate it. By the way, I do agree every fighter should fight to their skill set, which of course means a fighter like Lara should keep the fight at a distance at all times, when possible. However, when the gap closes he needs to either deliver meaningful punches on the inside and get out of there, or tie his man up… That’s no knock on him though. Actually I wish him the best.

Stevenson’s power is legit, but it’s a long lonely road back for Char Dawson. I suspect we’ll see him at cruiserweight next time out.

murderman: I agree and think that Adonis is just the man for the J.O.B. However, DO NOT miss the IBF Eliminator this weekend (June 14th) between Kovalev and White. Should be FIREWORKS as a KO is almost guaranteed! The winner will become the #1 Challenger to Ole Popkins’ IBF title.

Kovalev will put Stevenson to sleep, GYM will steer Adonis away from any perceived threats. Expect them to avoid Nard and Ward as well.

Let’s not forget that Bad Jawson was knocked down THREE times by a non puncher in his previous fight, his punch resistance has completely gone, though i’m not taking anything away from Stevenson.

Posted June 10, 2013 5:09 pm

I think that kovalav would put Hopkins away, unless Hopkins wisely avoids him. kudos to Stevenson.

Hey there, Swedish!!

I love your enthusiasm concerning a living legend like Bernard Hopkins, but Adonis Stevenson deserves more credit for destroying Chad Dawson than you and many are willing to give.

The scary variable about Adonis is that he is still improving with every fight. If you watch the fight with Chad again and notice the way he sets up the straight 1-2 down the middle, you’ll see that he has a very hi and underrated ring IQ.

By using feints and jabs to the body, he sets up the big 1-2 down the middle. He gets full power on his shots from balance and footwork. Adonis is no fluke and Chad is no bum.

It was a great performance from a very underrated fighter.

Time will prove this.

Swedish Boxing Fan

Chad Dawson, man what an overated fighter. All he have done is “defeating” old 40+ fighters and gets beaten up by the young ones. If Bernard Hopkins had not been 47 years old when they fought and had a bad shoulder, he would have busted Dawson up like Adonis Stevenson, Jean Pascal and Andre Ward did (Not exacly but still). Dawson is not a top fighter to bet on. – Who is the light heavyweight champion of the world? Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins!!!

@ squared-circle – stevenson just may be the guy who ko’s o.g hopkins and send him into retirement!

Posted June 10, 2013 3:15 am

and who died and made you judge and jury of when this great future HOFmer should stop boxing.

Squared-Circle (a.k.a. LionKing)

Never could stand watching B-Hop’s grab and hold dirty-boxing style. I’d love to see Adonis or Kovalev knock him out cold and host his retirement party. What’s he gonna do? Keep fighting into his 50s? Come on now…. enough is enough.

Posted June 10, 2013 2:13 am

We will see. I respect bhop but hate his style of fighting! Stevenson is exciting n deserves to be on bigtime ppv!

Posted June 10, 2013 1:20 am

If Adonis showed Bernard the same respect Tavoris did, then yes…Bernard would win a decision.

But if Adonis didn’t show Hops any respect like Chad didn’t in their two bouts, Adonis could possibly be the first man to stop the living legend.

Posted June 10, 2013 12:50 am

Trust me bernard will jab n grab, hold n hit, frustrate n use every old school trick n the book to eek out a decision again stevenson.

That fight will never happen. Adonis wants to stay on HBO and Bernard is a Golden Boy fighter.

Expect Adonis to give Bad Chad a rematch if he asks for it.

Good k.o to Stevenson but I agree with dude Bernard would take him to school and back!,

See if Adonis can solve the puzzle that is Bernard Hopkins ? That I would pay to watch !

That was a shocking post and a shocking knockout for Chad, shell shocked,, we will fight them on the beaches.

Wait a minute…I just read the aformentioned post and there’s no way that could be Vivek Wallace…at least I’m hoping it’s not.

That’s a pretty funny caricature of him though…lol

Hey there, Vivek

We were just discussing this on tonight’s show and I wanted to get your opinion on where Adonis goes from here. What is his most realistic and best option at 168 and 175?

Your thoughts, brother?

The Truth

Any excuses for your prediction?
