The true ATG ,s were not afraid to step up one or two weight classes and fight ATG,s at the heavier weight class. Robinson , Pep , Duran. Leonard ,Jones, fought and beat much bigger men. Mayweather should have no fear of fighting Canielo, Martinez and even some of the Supermiddleweights just to prove that he truly belongs to be classes as one of the greatest.Posted May 13, 2013 11:49 am
“Guerrero could be Castilian, Castilian is Spanish, Spanish is Caucasian,” Whatever, Tark. Ask any chicano from LA if he thinks he’s white.Posted May 7, 2013 7:14 pm
I think a lot of people underestimate Floyd’s power. I’m not saying he is some killer in there; but think about it. Guerrero normally let’s his hands go reguardless of who he is fighting. I saw SEVERAL TIMES Saturday evening when Floyd was standing SQUARE IN FRONT OF HIM; and he just stood there and did NOTHING. That tells me he was aware and a bit CAUTIOUS of the INCOMING!!!!!Posted May 7, 2013 4:23 am

I was stunned how amaterish Guerrero looked in that fight. He was walking in kill zone and not throwing punches and allowing Mayweather to potshot him at will. There was no jabs, double-jabs for most of the fight, and on occasion when he was throwing first and jabbing and taking initiative to Mayweather – he was doing fine.
On the other hand Mayweather was usual himself – GREAT, and against these type of opponenets who come in ring and forget to apply the most fundamental boxing principles – hw will never loose.Posted May 6, 2013 3:50 am
“Floyd is easily the GOAT… ” This doesn’t sound like the real Tark. But even if it is you, you know there’s a lot more to that picture than what you just painted. Floyd just got a UD over Robert Guerrero who beat Andre Berto who was beaten by Victor Oritiz–the flake-brained quitter. What other welterweight of great note did Ortiz beat before he fought Berto? NOBODY. So why did Ortiz get a Mayweather fight? Money. That’s it. Had nothing to do with GOATness. What other welterweight of great note did Guerrero beat before he beat Berto? Aydin? Katsidis? Yet suddenly Guerrero is vaulted to a top 10 P4P position and made mandatory challenger for Floyd? And Floyd’s “GOAT” ranking is bolstered yet again on this type of matchmaking? As for the 13 years difference in ages, you know as well as any knowledgable boxing fan that age is a relative thing in boxing. Not all fighters hit their peaks at the same time nor do they all start to fall at the same time. Using youth as an excuse to cement Mayweather in the GOAT position is one leaky bucket of support if you don’t include factors such as skills, previous opponents, etc. And Floyd is a prodigy in his sport. Age may not be a real factor for him for some years. How about Mayweather’s fight with Miguel Cotto? Even you know Miguel was never the same after getting pounded by that filthy cheater Margarito. But prior to that day, Cotto was a beast–undefeated, at the top of the charts and one of the most feared boxers in the ring. Where was Floyd? Am I saying he ducked Cotto then? No. But look when he fought him–certainly not at the height of Cotto’s career–this type of matchmaking supports Mayweather being the GOAT? Yes, this is only four out of Floyd’s 44 fights, but it’s four out of the 10 fights that Floyd has fought as a welterweight and the welterweight division is where he made the grand majority of his fame, fortune, and notoriety. This is where his “GOATness” starting being proclaimed in earnest. No, it ain’t that cut and dried to state “Floyd is easily the GOAT” based on the stats that you provided.Posted May 6, 2013 3:01 am
The easy road to 44-0. Whoopteedoo…Posted May 6, 2013 2:28 am
44-0 looks good on paper. But not when a man’s career is defined by who he didn’t fight rather than by who he beat. Since losing to Castillo he went from facing the best to avoiding the best. And he’s ducked Casamayor, Tszyu, Margarito, Williams, Pacquiao, Martinez, and now Canelo. Floyd has ducked every single opponent the public most clamored for him to face.Posted May 6, 2013 1:49 am
People can talk Pacman all they want. Fact is now he is pretty much irrelevant. That’s why they can’t pick a date for him to fight. And people want to say he fought a blown up lightweight. Well what is it if he fights back? A blown up bantamweight?Posted May 6, 2013 12:24 am
Congratulations to Floyd for fighting another blownup lightweight.Posted May 6, 2013 12:11 am
Good win for Floyd as expected!! 44 0 aint bad, only another 43 more to go, and he can tie Julio Caesar Chavez Sr.s record!Posted May 5, 2013 11:19 pm
Tark – good post however I think Tim Bradley and Steve Cunninghman in terms of appearance look every bit as good if not better than Mayweather in the conditioning department and that’s not taking anything away from FM, I mean the man is FM but those two guys are extraordinarily muscled.Posted May 5, 2013 10:53 pm
Yup. Landing 60% of everything other than a jab at 36 yrs old is TREMENDOUS. Even at 26 yrs old its TREMENDOUS. As a matter of FACT its just plain TREMENDOUS. Pacquiao didn’t even land THAT against the Defensively INEPT Margarito. WOW!!!Posted May 5, 2013 10:37 pm
@ PainPosted May 5, 2013 10:32 pm
Well thats why Floyd doesn’t try to impress AMATEURS. HE succeeded at impressing the EXPERTS and thats why they rate him at #1 P4P. And AMATEURS like YOURSELF are no factor in thatPosted May 5, 2013 10:31 pm
Landing 60% of your power shots to your opponent’s 19% of his total punches throw is ludicrous when you’re going against a 5 X World Champion who’s 30 years old—and has over 6 years age advantage over you with only one previous defeat in 30 fights. The punch stat differential is insane but Floyd was a lot sharper this fight than the Cotto fight where Miguel had a 4-year age advantage … Floyd was unhappy about the Cotto performance when he reviewed it. That’s why he brought Floyd Sr in… Floyd’s body looked in unreal condition—trained to the peak of perfection where he looked a little over trained for Cotto. I can’t remember seeing a better conditioned fighter.
But I think he’ll have to fight even better against Canelo, who’s a much better boxer and puncher than Guerrero… Robert is a very tough man—but he has so many technical flaws I can’t keep track of them. Neither Canelo nor Broner are going to walk in wide open—and eat punches like beacon, eggs, sausages, and hot cakes are being served up.Posted May 5, 2013 10:29 pm
Still not convinced Floyd is great. Just a very good cherry picker. Floyd the ducker still gets KO’d by the Pacman if ever they fight.Posted May 5, 2013 10:17 pm

Floyd has beat plenty of HOF fighters. just because he makes them look average does not mean he is not challenging him self or that he is cherry picking. Get real people. Discrediting Floyd just discredits all the fighters that he destroyed that you haters like. Marquez, ODH, Mosely, etc… Oh! and Floyd ages just like they do so dont talk that past their prime BS. PBF was north of 30 when he beat each of them.Posted May 5, 2013 8:57 pm

SURE Floyd could have handed Guerrero a BRUTAL beatdown but he DIDN’T. . And maybe that’s why God continues to BLESS him. Guys who unnecessarily punish guys end UP getting punished THEMSELVES. Just ask Manny Pacquiao and Muhammed Ali.Posted May 5, 2013 7:20 pm

I’m glad I took MY money and bet on the WINNER. IF you want to start making EASY money like ME start betting on Floyd, Broner, and Ward every single time. WINNING your bet is how you make money. Favorites and Underdogs are no factor in thatPosted May 5, 2013 7:07 pm
The terms “undefeated fighter” and “cherry picking” opponents go hand in hand.Posted May 5, 2013 7:05 pm
I am glad many saved their money and Boycotted this nonsense. I’m sure Fraud has sleepless nites knowing that he cherry picks his opponents…Fraud is a capable pop shoter. He knows how to move, hit, and move again all nite long…Does that make him an all time great…Nah, I don’t think so…especially after picking tomato cans like the relatively unknown Guerro (The Ghost!) nobody… Boxing is on the steady decline make no doubts about it and its because of the fake type of hype matches that are made with these over-nite promotors…Posted May 5, 2013 6:55 pm

Guerrero fought hard and tried but it isn’t easy to hit this freakin’ guy! Mayweather is so elusive it’s hard watching him. But he was his usual hit and move away fighter, that’s who he is and because of this and many other things he will debated as being an ATG,IMO.Posted May 5, 2013 6:03 pm
Another BORING OF THE YEAR PPV EVENT by Showtime/GBP and Floyd Mayweather.Posted May 5, 2013 6:01 pm
Floyd is easily the GOAT… Even is he loses to Alvarez and Broner, because he gives 13 years of age to each of them, he will still be the GOAT… Who among the Top-10 ATG’s has never been beaten? … Who won World Championships in 5 weight classes before anybody ever beat him or fought a draw with him? … Who beat 5 different World Champions who each won World Championships in at least 3 weight divisions?
That’s a short list for each or those categories… One name on each list.Posted May 5, 2013 5:23 pm
When fans stop paying for this crap, Showtime will be forced to cancel his contract! Showtime pays Floyd based on the number of fans Floyd’s fights may pull in however, when those numbers change, so will the contract. The contract is of mutual benefit. It does not exist for Floyd’s benefit only. Paying fans deserve better, demand it by not buying a ppv similar to Floyd vs- Guerrero in the future. I mean, WTF? It’s Floyd we’re talking about! A man who thinks he’s an all time great and he fights guys like Guerrero. How can we call you an all time great if you haven’t fought anyone remotely threatening to regin? Last time you did was against Castillo, many many moons ago.Posted May 5, 2013 5:00 pm
Good ole Floyd, wants to be considered an all time great without fighting all time greats in their prime. Not that RG is an ATG, he’s not, not by a long shot and even the most diehard Floyd nut huggers would agree with that assessment. Future Floyd opponents will have to be too old, too small, too green or past their prime otherwise Floyd wants nothing to do with them.
Floyd didnt rank robert num 1. Wbc did! But remember yall floyd has 5 mpre fights. Lets see what happens. I think he fights canelo but he will make him come down to 147. The fact money allowed himself to be stripped of the wba jm belt shows he has no intention of fighting at 154 againPosted May 5, 2013 3:47 pm
Dont say he avoided pacman my friend when pacm tan turned down 4 t0 million and random drug testing! Pacman got 20 mil yo fight jmm. Y did he turned down the 40 mil floyd offered him? Now tell me who didnt want the fight partner?Posted May 5, 2013 3:42 pm
Crown Prince of Whales
Uh, Floyd did choose this guy. The WBC rankings are a joke, as anyone who follows boxing knows well. Easy win for Floyd, but fights like these help define his legacy. He’ll be remembered for beating a laundry list of blown up fighters moving up in weight and past their prime ex-champs like Cotto and Mosely. Part of it is weak competition, which isn’t his fault, and part of the problem is his avoidance of serious challenges (such as Kosta, Margarito and Pac-man) when they were available.Posted May 5, 2013 3:25 pm
Please dont discredited the legitimacy of robert only to disrespect floyd. Floyd didnt choose this guy. He earned the num 1 ranking by the wbc. Robert is not a bum fighter! Money just made him look like one! @pe- whats up my guyPosted May 5, 2013 3:06 pm
I would actually rate Mayweather higher than Leonard, Haglar, Hearns and Duran and most of those guys sit in the Top 20 ATG lists. I think Mayweather is very unappreciated.Posted May 5, 2013 3:05 pm
Haha had to push back twice and try again cos it just happened again.Posted May 5, 2013 3:00 pm
Tim – Floyd ko’d an unbeaten Hutton who had ko’d Tszyu. If you have been following boxing for real with no bias you’ll notice that Bob Arum does no business with ex employees for years ( GBP & Mayweather Promotions) so Top Rank employees Cotto, Margarito & Pac were never gonna be matched with Floyd as we’ve experienced so lay that blame on the right door not what the media and some of these writers on the payroll tell ya. Funny thing every other boxer some how deteriotes as they grow older but Floyd is not allowed to instead he must now fight Middleweights like Martinez, GGG, abandone his skills and stand toe to toe for fans who are never satisfied. Stupid!Posted May 5, 2013 2:54 pm
Must “The Annoying Watson Twins” be ever present? Does Showtime realize how moronic they look in there?
Speaking of Showtime, Mauro Ranallo must go. He is worse than Gus Johnson. Another instant screaming talking head who knows squat about boxing.
The Mexican skeleton with the cigar also must go.
It’s a veritable freak show out there.Posted May 5, 2013 2:11 pm
I think PBF is a great boxer, definitely one of the all time greats, probably Top 30 at this point in his career. My only gripe is that PBF seems to only fight guys “at the right time” for his personal liking, not when they appear to be a real legit challenge. In other words, he seems to target fighters who have already shown a “chink” in their chain that he can exploit, now that someone already did it. He didn’t fight Kotszu or Hatton @ 140lbs when the entire boxing world thought they were the “The Men to Beat”, he didn’t fight Margarito or Cotto @ 147lbs when the entire boxing world thought they were both “The Men to Beat”, and he didn’t fight Pac-man when the entire boxing world thought he was the “The Ultimate Man to Beat”. Simply put, he just doesn’t take the risks of the greatest fighters who came before him, Ali, Robinson, Duran, Hearns, Leonard, Chavez, Whitaker, De La Hoya, Trinidad, etc. So many fighters in the past took on the biggest and most lethal threats to prove their greatness. I just wish PBF would because he truly is a great fighter. Now, Canelo stands in front of him as “The #1 Man to Beat”. Will he fight Canelo next? If history repeats itself, I say no. Sad but probably true.Posted May 5, 2013 2:09 pm
That’s not intentionalbutt from the forums. Even he had Mayweather winning.Posted May 5, 2013 1:10 pm
Very Fortunately, I saved myself many greenbacks buy not purchasing that farce of a fight last night, knowing full well the outcome from the get go. It was obvious! Guerrero is a fine fighter however, he is no ATG which begs the question, “why is Floyd fighting these types of fights?” The answer in part is low risk/high reward!! If this is the type of fight boxng fans will continue to pay to see, then fighters like Floyd will continue to fight these type of fights. They will continue to fight people like RG, little JMM, and those past their primes in the hopes you never see the reason behind their actions. As I said, I saved myself lots of money last night by not buying the ppv because this type of fight does not belongs on PVV. Even if this was on regular Showtime and not PPV, it still did not make it a compelling fight!! Floyd’s fights are predictable. So much for a fighter who wants to be recognized as an all time great. As the old adage says, “what have you done for me LATELY??”Posted May 5, 2013 1:06 pm
