I hope they let Coach in. I met him before, he deserves it.

The King was a great amateur and a very exciting pro with great skills…

Wow he really aged. He looks seventy! He could play the President in movies, or the guy that gets things in Shawshank.

McKinney might deserve to be in the HOF, but there are plenty of fighters who have been dead and gone who have been past over for years that also need to get in. It’s always a mix each year or current/present day fighters and a few old ones who should’ve been in decades ago. What can you do. The Hall of Fame is restricted by it’s own rules.

no clue

Great piece Mr. Slater.. We need more of these interviews with great former fighters on ESB instead of a bunch of a tosh no one gives a toss about.. As for McKinney being HOF worthy I’m not sure. He is one of my favorite fighters, ballsy to the max and his wars with Jones and Barrera are instant classics but on pure merit (significant bells won in different classes/great fighters beaten) he falls a little short of the mark. Imo to make a cut and be great you need to beat some great fighters and Kennedy cant really boast that.

Question

Yeah, that was a helluva right hand that McKinney dropped Ncita with. Ncita was rolling around like jello on the floor when he tried to get up but couldn’t. Helluva comeback by Kennedy when he nearly lost by KO himself.

Because Luisito Espinosa who knocked him out is not in Hall of Fame also. Luisito is not even mention in this article.

The King was a classy boxer puncher, I really enjoyed his fights that bout with Junior Jones along with Hamed and Kelly shootout is still one of my favourite boxing nights ever.

Kennedy Mckinney was a classic boxer puncher that could have held his own with any of today’s top fighters. He had a great jab and power in that right hand. IMO, he needs to be in the HOF.

A victory over Junior Jones doesn’t merit HOF.

That’s unquestionably the most ridiculous excuse for deleting a post I’ve ever seen on here. No joke.

Dang!, McKinney looks old.

Kennedy must be smokin them tweeds if he thinks he’s a hall of famer

Many fighters have gotten into the hall of fame and should not have, and many fighters have not only not gotten into the hall, but are not even nominated to get in, such as McKinney. He beat Junior Jones, but Jones who beat Barrera twice, isn’t even nominaet, and Barrera most certainly will be in the hall. Not saying Barrera isn’t more more deserving because of all he accomplished, but that is just the way it is. Some of these fighters seem to have been forgotten.

He looks much older than 47.

Kennedy McKinney was a stud of a fighter with mad skills and power to boot! I don’t know that I would put him in the Hall, but I understand why he believes he should be in there. He really had a great and exciting career. I wuld love to see him in the mix with todays super bantams such as Donaire, Rigo, Mares and Moreno. His chances against any of them would be damn good.

Slater was too quick to agree with him.
