By Brendan George: Former 2 time WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Anthony “The Man” Mundine (43-4 25 KO’s) continued his preparation yesterday at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas Nevada, for his upcoming bout against former WBO Light Middleweight Champion Bronco ‘The Superman’ McKart (54-9 33KO’s) to be held July 14th at the Palms Resort and Casino Las Vegas. Promoter Vlad Warton from Millennium Events stated “The stage is set for a fantastic night of international championship boxing with two former World Champions going toe to toe, I can assure you the winner of this bout can expect big things before the end of the year is out”
With Mundine shortly closing out his preparation for his upcoming bout, it’s clear he is taking this fight very seriously and he’s training the house down. “I’m glad to be in Vegas preparing for my first fight in the USA and I can’t wait to get in the ring and put on a great show” Mundine stated.. Sparring at the Mayweather Boxing Club this week against one of the clubs hot prospects has help fine tune Mundine’s preparation and with a parochial crowd in attendance supporting the young charge from the Mayweather’s Gym, Mundine also got a taste of what is will be like fighting away from home in your opponents backyard. “Yeah the crowd got a little excited at sparring, they were really chanting for Anthony’s sparring opponent so it’s good he gets a taste of that sort of thing, he will need to get used to that come fight night” stated Brendan Bourke from Millennium Events.
When asked about his preparation to date, Mundine stated: “I feel great and I can’t wait to take on former World Champion Bronco McKart. He’s got a great record and has a full kit of punches so I need to stay on my toes”. While Mundine looked at home in Mayweather’s Gym he was still adamant about one thing: “I want to fight the best of the best, pound for pound and at this stage, that’s “Money Mayweather”, stated Mundine.
Millennium Events Promoter Vlad Warton stated: “Everything is ready for a great fight night on July 14th. Two former World Champions meet head to head at the Palms Resort and Casino and we are proud to be helping Anthony Mundine achieve his dream of fighting in America.” Mr Warton continued: “The main event is USA vs Australia and in the co feature USA vs Russia. This will be a great night of international championship boxing”.
In what will be an action packed fight card, the main support bout will be contested over 12 rounds for the IBF International Light Heavyweight title between IBF #11 Dmitry Sukhotsky 18-1 (13KO) and Cornelius White 19-1 (16 KO).
