Late last week Erick’s manager/coach Brian Lawrence was informed that Erick will be fighting for the English Light Middleweight title, should a suitable opponent be available. Erick’s response to the news was to instantly step up his training schedule with additional sparring rounds to ensure he was ready for the increase from the scheduled six to a Championship ten rounder.
Following a grueling training session, at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town, a beaming Erick said, “Yeah, I’m fighting on Wednesday, hopefully it’s still the title fight, the English title fight.
We don’t know who I’m fighting yet, we’re waiting for them (BBBofC) to confirm the opponent.
I’ve been training hard so I’m not worried who they get me to fight on the night, all I know is I’m going to be winning.”
Erick “The Eagle” Ochieng, against a yet to be named opponent will feature on the undercard of Lee Purdy’s British title defense against Erick’s TRAD TKO gym mate Colin Lynes at York Hall in Bethnal Green this coming Wednesday.

Limond wants Ricky Burns
Glasgow’s Willie Limond is targeting a history-making world title showdown against Ricky Burns.
Burns became Scotland’s first two-weight world champion in nearly twenty years when he beat Australian great Michael Katsidis to capture the Interim World Boxing Organization (WBO) World title at Wembley Arena on Saturday night.
Limond takes on British Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla on Friday 25th November at the Ravenscraig Centre in Motherwell, live on BoxNation (Sky Platform Ch. 456), but has an eye on facing Burns after.
It would be the first time two Scottish fighters have fought for a world title.
“I was really happy to see Burns beat Katsidis and I thought he put on a great performance to beat one of the world’s top lightweights,” Said Limond.
“Of course, the big fight would be me against Burns here in Scotland which would be a barnstormer. Two Scotsmen fighting for the world title for the first time ever would be absolutely massive,”
“It’s given me the extra incentive to beat Crolla and win the British title to make it happen between me and Burns.”
“Crolla is by no means an easy fight. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and it’s going to be a great battle between us, but I going all out to win the title.”
Tickets for Crolla v Limond, priced at 40 and “0, are available on through Morrison’s Gym on 0141 554 7777 or St Andrew’s Sporting Club on 0141 810 5700.
