By Vitali Shaposhnikov: I have said this a long time ago as well as in my numerous recent articles within the past week: I believe that it is Manny Pacquiao who does not wish to do everything possible to make his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. a reality.
While the back and forth between the two camps has been going on for years, the majority of the fans seem to believe camp Pacquiao’s statements, rather than those of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The main issue according to Floyd Mayweather Jr., has been his numerous requests for Pacquiao to accept his extended version of the drug testing regimen. Floyd has directly stated many times during his interviews and public appearances that he does indeed want to fight Pacquiao, if the Filipino sensation only took the test.
Despite the fact that camp Pacquiao has been trying to convince the public that they have agreed to the test before many times, I have yet to hear this come out as a clear-cut statement from Manny himself.
“We are looking for Pacquiao. We want Pacquiao to take the test. We just want to give the fans and the people around the world what they want to see,†said Floyd during his recent appearance on 106 & Park (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HISyd4oaZDc&feature=player_embedded).
When asked why he thinks that Pacquiao is taking something illegal to help with his boxing, Mayweather Jr. replied: “I never said Pacquiao was on anything. It’s just that its not natural for any athlete to come from 106lbs to 154lbs all naturally, and compete with the best fighters. I’m the face of boxing and I’m just trying to clean this sport up. I’m not just picking on one fighter: Ortiz took the test, Mosley took the test, and all I am asking Pacquiao to do is just take the test so that we could make it happen.â€
Hopefully, this king of public call-out of Manny by Floyd will influence Pacman enough to separate himself from Bob Arum and stat talking to Mayweather promotions directly, paving the way for the biggest fight in recent boxing history.
