Mayweather Jr. vs Ortiz on Max Kellerman Face Off

By Vitali Shaposhnikov: Max Kellerman Face Off: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIaQD4QJhso&feature=player_embedded#at=50)

“I’m fittin’ to go in there and destroy this kid,” said Floyd Mayweather Jr. to Max Kellerman after being more polite and quiet than usual at the very end of the Max Kellerman Face Off show.

As always, Mayweather Jr. looked very relaxed and confident, smiling away and making various jokes throughout the episode. Floyd even asked Kellerman about his shoes after reaching for his water bottle. Of course the show could not have come and gone without a mention of Pacquiao, and how Floyd knows of many ways to beat him.

Victor Ortiz on the other hand took on a different character, staying apprehensive and serious throughout their chat. He had no hesitation in attacking Floyd’s confidence, as well as reminding Kellerman of how he trashed Ortiz some time ago. I must say Max did a great job, keeping his composure and focus on the assignment.

While he looked relaxed, Ortiz had a very tense mood which showed. Maybe he is still inexperienced in things like this, because he simply could not hide his inner nervousness from spilling out of my TV screen.

As a younger and less experienced fighter, I expected to see more respect from Ortiz towards Mayweather Jr., but none was given. It was as if Ortiz was a young naïve kid, talking out of pure emotion and dreams. He told Floyd that he was going to punish him for the entire 12 rounds, something that no other fighter has ever been able to come close to.

Is Ortiz selling himself? I don’t think so, I think that he actually believes that he will outwork and outsmart the most clever and quickest man in current boxing. After beating Andre Berto, Ortiz’s confidence has skyrocketed, taking cockiness onboard. Come October, I expect to see a very surprised and confused Victor Ortiz and his corner, as their game plan fails to come to fruition.
