FORMER WEST HAM TEAM MATES FEATURE AT THE EXCEL

Top prospect Billy Morgan is promising a night to remember for West Ham ABC on July 9.

The famous amateur outfit has three old boys in action on Frank Warren’s big card at the ExCeL Arena.

Kevin Mitchell headlines against unbeaten John Murray, live on Sky Sports 1HD, while Morgan is joined on the undercard by debutant Ediz Hussein.

“It will be quite a night for the east end,” said Morgan, who has won three out of three since turning professional and is trained by Jimmy Tibbs.

“West Ham’s a real traditional kind of place and everyone down there will be willing us to do well at the ExCeL.

“There’s been a great production line of talent over the years, and I remember looking up to the likes of Kevin when I was a youngster.

“He might have had a blip against Michael Katsidis, but I’m sure he’ll be back with a bang against Murray and do us all proud.

“And look out for Hussein as well because he’s a dangerous fighter and he’ll do well as a pro too.”

Lightweight Morgan trains out of the same stable as Mitchell, and has won all three of his fights so far under Warren on points.

“It will be nice to get a knockout,” he joked.

“But I’m still young and learning my trade and the power will come with time.”

Tickets for North ‘n South are available now, priced at £40, £50, £75, £100, £150 and £200, from 0844 844 0444 or ticketmaster.co.uk

About Adrien “The Problem” Broner

A standout amateur Adrien “the Problem” Broner was boxing along with his twin brother Andre before he even turned ten years old. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio Broner found himself in many sparring sessions with 2 time Olympian Rau’Shee Warren under the tutelage of their coach, Michael Stafford. As he grew older, the results were even more impressive as he won the prestigious Silver Gloves tournament in 2002 and 2003 then made it to the semifinals of the 2005 Junior Olympics. Broner ended up with an outstanding amateur record of over 300 fights with less than 20 losses. With this kind of amateur career, once he turned Pro he was already a seasoned veteran in the ring. His Coach Michael Stafford, 2 time Olympic coach has had his hands on more Olympians than any coach in the United States. If there was such a thing as the Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame, Coach Mike would definitely be an inductee. He knew Broner was a force to be reckoned with in a pair of gloves. Coach Mike has been there for every step of Broner’s boxing career. In May 2008 Andrew Williams of R&R Promotions gave Broner a stage to showcase his talents as a Professional boxer. By his second pro fight he was signed by Hall of Fame manager Shelly Finkle and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. Through the watchful eye of Andrew Williams, Shelly Finkle and Golden Boy Promotions, Broner fought his way to 9 first rounds knockouts and also being featured on the undercard of Ricky Hatton vs Paul Malignaggi, Mosley vs Mayorga, Mosley vs Margarito, Pacquiao vs Hatton, DeLaHoya vs Pacquiao and Diaz vs Malignaggi. Broner is now 19-0, 16 KO’s which gives him an 81% knockout ratio and is now ranked 1st in the Nation and the World.

Broner has recently signed with Al Hayman Management and since has been featured on HBO Boxing After Dark twice with both fights being impressive wins for Broner. Broner is currently the WBC Intercontinental Super Feather Weight Youth Champion and the World Boxing Council (WBC) United States National Boxing Champion (WBC USNBC) in the Lightweight Division, the WBC USNBC in the Super featherweight division and the WBO Intercontinental Super Featherweight title. Adrien Broner has been featured in the “New Faces” section of the March issue of The “Official Bible of Boxing”, Ring Magazine.
