Mike Lee faces Pablo Gomez on Saturday

LAS VEGAS, (February 24, 2011) Notre Dame Boxing Champion Mike Lee met the Las Vegas media on Thursday afternoon just two days prior to his showdown with Pablo Gomez at The Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas.

The 23 year old Lee, a top light heavyweight prospect, held court for the local media and was welcomed to Las Vegas and received best wishes from boxing superstar Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire.

The Lee/Gomez scheduled four rounder is the featured undercard bout to the Showtime broadcast World Lightweight Championship between Miguel Acosta and #1 contender Brandon Rios.

Lee was joined at the press conference by Bob Arum, Chairman of Top Rank Incorporated, father and manager John Lee, co-trainer Creed Fountain and strength and conditioning coach Brian Caldwell. Renowned head trainer Ronnie Shields will arrive later tonight to work Lee’s corner.

In addition to the fight on Saturday night, fans will get an opportunity to watch the official weigh in on Friday afternoon, February 25th, LIVE on the Top Rank Incorporated website, www.toprank.com (Click on the Livestream link under the Top Rank logo in the upper left hand corner.)

And then on Saturday night, February 26th starting at 7pm CST, 5pm PST, fans can watch from The Pearl Theatre as Lee battles for his fourth victory of his professional career.

Among those supporting Lee on Saturday night will be former Notre Dame All-American wide receiver and current Seattle Seahawk Golden Tate, standout Kansas City Chief tight end Tony Moeaki and Cincinnati Bengal quarterback Dan LeFevour and Notre Dame legend Rudy Ruettiger.

In his last bout, Lee scored a brutal first round knockout of Keith Debow on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s world championship bout at Dallas Cowboys Stadium on November 13th in front of a record crowd of over 41,000 with millions more watching around the world.

Included in the Notre Dame alums and supporters in Dallas for Lee were former NFL star running back Ricky Watters and Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton and Notre Dame legend Rudy Ruettiger.

This will be Lee’s second appearance at The Palms Casino and Resort, having brutally stopped Alex Rivera with a devastating body shot in the second round this past September 11th.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Lee graduated in 2009 from the University Of Notre Dame at the top of his class with a degree in finance. While at Notre Dame, Lee won the school’s Bengal Bouts boxing tournament three years in a row.

After winning the Chicago Golden Gloves, Lee was signed by Top Rank Incorporated, boxing’s premier promotional company.
