Friday, February 18th, marks the return of southpaw Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta (20-0-1, 10KOs) to the squared circle when he takes on Genaro Trazancos (22-13-1, 13KOs) on Telefura’s “Solo Boxeo Tecate” from San Francisco, CA’s Longshormen’s Hall, near the world famous Fisherman’s Wharf. Billed as the “War at the Wharf”, the mutli-bout card will be presented by Golden Boy Promotions with Don Chargin Promotions in association with Jorge Marron Productions.
Gesta and Trazancos are no strangers to each other as “No Mercy” stopped the tough journey man from Mexico City in seven rounds last August on another edition of “Solo Boxeo Tecate”. Gesta of San Diego, CA, by way of Cebu, Philippines, carried the thirty-six veteran until he scored with a straight left that sent Trazancos down for the count. Despite Trazancos going almost the distance, Gesta was hoping for a tougher fight for his first performance of 2011.
“We wanted to fight Hector Velazquez but he backed out of the fight I was told by my promoter Don Chargin,” Gesta stated from the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles where he is training. “Trazancos is tough and strong and most of all brave enough to fight me again when others wouldn’t.”
Chargin did not fail to inform Gesta that bigger and better things are to come such a big name fight under the Golden Boy Promotions banner once Gesta comes out unscathed from this assignment.
“My time is coming, I’m well into training camp here at the Wild Card gym,” Gesta said confidently. “I am working with my co-manager/trainer Vince Parra and coach Freddie Roach is helping us too. I’m focused and ready to fight.”
Douglin to face Carrasquillo February 18!
Morganville, NJ (February 3, 2011) – Unbeaten junior middleweight Denis “Da Mommas Boy” Douglin will look to take another step in the right direction when he battles cement fisted veteran Doel Carrasquillo Friday, February 18 at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, MD.
Douglin, 12-0 (8 KO’s), is scheduled to fight in an eight rounder for the first time as a professional. The Morganville, NJ native stopped his last five opponents, most recently demolishing 11-2 Matt Berkshire in less than two minutes on December 17.
Although his counterpart’s record of 14-17-1 with 12 KO’s doesn’t indicate frequent success, Carrasquillo is a proven spoiler that shattered dreams of notable fighters such as Isam Khalil, Wayland Willingham, Keenan Collins, The Contender’s Aaron Torres and Jorge Melendez. The Lancaster, PA based Puerto Rican is Douglin’s most experienced opponent to date, having also gone toe to toe wit the likes of 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist Ricardo Williams, highly touted Willie Nelson, Steve Chambers, unbeaten contender Mike Jones and Tim Coleman amongst others.
“I know he is a very rugged and tough guy, so I am training for a hard eight round fight,” said Douglin, the 2008 National Golden Gloves Middleweight Champion. “My goal is to knock him out, impress the fans and leave it out of the judges’ hands!”
The Douglin-Carrasquillo bout is part of the untelevised portion of an ESPN Friday Night Fights card promoted by Prize Fight Boxing in association with Global Boxing Promotions.

Luis ‘Orlandito’ del Valle added to February 18th card
New York State Featherweight Champion, Luis “Orlandito” del Valle ( 11-0-0,9KO’s ) has been added to the “Boxeo de Campeones” card, held at the Juan Pachin Vicens Auditorium in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
“Last year ( 2010 ) I didn’t fight on the island but now that I am, my responsibility as a athlete besides winning, is to give a great show to the people, so when they get back home, they can remember my name” said a confident “Orlandito” who is part of the “Dibella Entertainment” Stable.
The undefeated Puerto Rican boxer, who trains in Newburgh, New York with trainer Raymond Rivera, will face tough opponent Irvin Hernández from Aguas Buenas.
“I need to be 110 percent physically and mentally prepared for this fight. Irvin is a tough aggresive opponent that never quits, just like me” stated Del Valle, who last November, on the “Paul Williams vs Sergio Martínez II” undercard, defeated tough mexican, Noe López,Jr, by technical knockout, in the 3rd round.
