Unbeaten Derek Chisora Tells David Haye, “I’ll KO Harrison If You Can’t Do It”

By James Slater – Unbeaten British heavyweight Derek “Del Boy” Chisora, the man who ended the career of another Brit in Danny Williams a few months back, has given David Haye an offer: to make up his mind and decide whether or not he will face Audley Harrison next, or let him go in with “A-Force” instead.

Chisora, the reigning British champion and 13-0(8) as a pro, takes on old foe Sam Sexton on September 18th, in a fight that will also contest Sexton’s Commonwealth belt, and Chisora clearly feels he will have no trouble handing Sexton a second defeat (he stopped Sam in the 6th-round back in 2008).. Willing to step in for Haye on the talked-of date of November 13th if the WBA champ doesn’t want to fight Harrison, Chisora is obviously full of himself. For, say what you want about Harrison, but he would likely have too much for the still-learning “Del Boy” at this moment in time.

Still, Chisora wants to make an even bigger name for himself, and a KO over Harrison – the result Chisora says he is sure he would get – would certainly grab the 26-year-old some attention.

“Make up your mind, Haye, because I’ll quite easily knock out Harrison if you can’t do it,” Chisora said as quoted by fight news.com. “You are running away from the Klitschko brothers like a thief in the night, if you can’t beat a powder-puff like Harrison, you should pack up. Harrison still hasn’t won the British title like he promised to do. He’s now had 27 pro fights. I’ve got the British title so here’s his chance.

“I can’t believe he’s close to getting a world title shot after needing a lucky punch to beat Michael Sprott. If he gets in the ring with me, I’ll knock him spark out. The future of British boxing is me, not an old man like Harrison.”

It’s somewhat puzzling what Chisora thinks he would prove by beating Harrison when he thinks so little of him and his credentials. Why is the British champ wasting his time calling out a fighter he must know will never agree to face him? Chisora is merely grabbing a few headlines, and who can really blame him? In the past, the cocksure talent has called out anyone from Tyson Fury to Haye to the Klitschkos!

In reality, Chisora should be concentrating on his upcoming fight with Sexton; a fighter who has promised to get his revenge for his sole pro loss. How foolish will Chisora look if he actually loses on September 18th?

A Chisora-Harrison fight would be somewhat interesting, but Chisora must know it will never happen.
