Martin Rogan’s Prediction for Haye-Ruiz fight

by Brendan Galbraith – Martin ‘the Entertainer’ Rogan flew into Manchester earlier this morning to attend tonight’s World Title clash between David Haye and John Ruiz. Rogan, who is close to coming back to full training after a successful bone transmission operation, has world title ambitions himself (more on that to follow), shares his thoughts on the Haye-Ruiz fight.

Haye, who has looked bulkier in the run up to this evening’s fight, came in 4Ilbs higher on the scales in comparison to this last fight. Rogan observed:

“David looked to have bulked up in weight. I think what he has to understand himself, no matter what, he is in a different division now. Going in against Valuev, he was light, he was well cut and he could move – because he was pretty light. He has moved up in weight and I think he will see the difference when he tries to cart that weight about, because I am a natural heavyweight, but when I go over a couple of pounds of my natural weight, I actually find the sluggishness in me automatically”.

“It is a strange thing. It only takes an extra two or three pounds to your body to start slowing itself up. And I think David will find that himself. David is pretty fit and he can bang.”

On John Ruiz, Rogan cautioned:

“John Ruiz is a grinder – he will grind you down and he can take it. The one thing I would say about John Ruiz is from his last couple of fights when I have seen him, he was pretty bulky and very sluggish, he didn’t want to do too much. This time around I have seen him on the news, he looks to have trimmed up a lot, he looks a sharp, he is moving, he looks younger. I think he is up for it. I think John Ruiz is up for it”.

Rogie’s prediction:

“Obviously, David Haye with Adam Booth they are going to do their homework. For me, I would be saying, go out there, jab – move, jab – move. I would say if David Haye jabs one-two and walks away and frustrates him a wee bit. I would say David Haye would knock John Ruiz out between 5 and 7 rounds”.

“If he doesn’t then John Ruiz will bring it the whole way to points and he will grind him down. As he covers up well and takes his shots”.

Regardless of how the Haye-Ruiz fight transpires, Rogan is firmly fixed on getting right back in the mix again with the intention of securing his own title shot. An in depth interview on this and more will follow shortly.
