News: George vs Henry; DiBella Inks Antwone Smith; David Telesco

(June 25, 2009) The anticipated match-up between light heavyweight contenders Shaun George and Chris Henry is on for July 10, 2009! The fight will take place at The Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The ten-round bout, which will be televised on ESPN 2, was added on to an action packed card as the co-feature to Matt Godfrey v. Shawn Hawk..

George (18-2-2, 9 KO’s) is considered a top contender for the light heavyweight title. He captured the attention of the boxing world when he destroyed two-time heavyweight champion Chris Byrd last year. George’s most recent win came last February when he knocked out former world title challenger Jaffa Ballogou in the first round in stunning fashion.

“This is a great fight for Shaun on his path to a future title shot,” said his promoter Lou DiBella.

Henry (23-2, 18 KO’s) is no stranger to fighting top notch competition like George. He has been in the ring with the likes of Adrian Daiconu and Yusef Mack. The styles of both George and Henry should make for an exciting and fan-friendly match up.

“I feel like every fight is life or death for me,” said George. “This fight will be no different. I am on a mission to prove I am the best.”

DiBella Inks Antwone Smith

New York (June 24, 2009)- DiBella Entertainment has announced exciting welterweight Antwone “The Truth” Smith (16-1-1, 8 KO’s) as the newest addition to their stable of world class boxers.

Promoter Lou DiBella expressed his excitement at the signing of Smith. “I became more and more impressed as I watched Antwone win four consecutive nationally televised ESPN fights as the underdog,” said DiBella. “He is a special talent and will be a significant player in the welterweight division.”

At barely twenty two years old, the battle tested Smith has beaten experienced athletes such as Richard Gutierrez, Norberto Gonzalez and Juan Camilo Novoa. Boxing since he was a young teen, Smith compiled an impressive amateur record and won several tournaments including the Florida Golden Gloves.

Despite his youth, Smith is already a polished fighter. He is a calculating and entertaining boxer/puncher who lives and trains in Miami, Florida with Jorge Rubio and is managed by Donnie Herron. His only loss was a highly controversial six round unanimous decision to Ed Paredes, a loss he intends to reverse in the future.

“I think Lou DiBella is a brilliant promoter and person in general,” said Herron. “Antwone is very intelligent and smart fighter. So together they should be a great team.”

Smith, who is newly engaged and the father of two kids, is happy to have a promoter backing him. “It hasn’t been easy so it feels good to have someone in my corner, helping me out,” said Smith. “Who better than Lou DiBella?”
