JR Middleweights Set To Battle On ESPN 2 “Friday Night Fights”

By Gordon Solie Jr: Boxing fans this Friday night May 5th on ESPN 2 don’t miss out in the Jr. Middleweight main event battle between “SO. CAL’S last remaining bad boy” Danny Perez 34-5 (17KO’S) and “CHI TOWNS” Carlos Molina 16-4-1 (5KO”S). The card will take place at the Mahi Shrine Temple in Miami; Fl showtime on ESPN 2 will begin at 8:30 pm EST..

The promoter for this night of boxing action is RichieBoy Promotions.

The main event should be of intrigue as both fighters have interesting notes on there boxing resume. 32 yr old veteran Perez will be defending his WBO-NABO Jr. Middleweight belt that he won back in November of last year over Eric Mitchell 22-4-1, which was disqualified in the 11th round for excessive holding. Perez is currently on a 3 fight winning streak since he returned to action last year after taking a couple years off from the game. If you recall Perez was the last boxer to lay down Antonio Margarito to the canvass in 1999, losing the bout by a close split decision, in other bouts he has defeated by unanimous decision in 2003 Grady Brewer of Contender Series Fame

and toughman Jose Luis Zertuche in 2004. Last year in September he also defeated by unanimous decision at the MGM Grand Julio Cesar Garcia which came in with a 41-2 record at that time. Tonight we get to see him do battle against up and comer Molina

26 yrs old which is on an 8 bout winning streak? Recently defeating by unanimous decision this year over up and comers Ed Paredes and Alexis Camacho. If you also recall he was the man that dueled to a questionable draw in 2005 with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on the Latin Fury card that took place in Monterrrey, Mexico. His last lost was in 2007 against Mike Alvarado. While Perez’s last lost was in 2005 against David Lopez.

What makes this match up one you shouldn’t miss is the fact Molina will be stepping it up and facing his first challenge from a very seasoned and tough ring veteran in Perez, and Perez will be facing in Molina someone that has an 8 bout winning streak by beating respectable young talent. Either boxer that wins this bout will be able to measure where they stand in the Jr Middle Weight division. Best of luck to both fighters and don’t miss the action tonight on ESPN 2 “Friday Night Fights”.
