News: Tecate to Sponsor Pacquiao/Hatton; McGee-Fullmer; More

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (March 30, 2009) – Tecate, cerveza con carácter, announces its sponsorship of one of the most anticipated boxing events of the year. Facing Ring magazine’s No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) will be IBO World Junior Welterweight champion Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs). They will fight for the World Junior Welterweight Championship on Saturday, May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, in a match that will be televised via HBO Pay-Per-View..

Tecate also will develop thousands of thematic POS elements and posters with fight details that will be distributed nationally to grocery, convenience and liquor stores. Furthermore, Tecate will tailor its out-of-home, TV and radio spots to include information about the event. These will be launched four weeks prior to the bout in key markets such as Ariz., Calif., Colo., Idaho, Nev., N.M., Ore., Utah and Wash.

To increase excitement in the days leading up to May 2, Tecate will offer boxing fans the opportunity to meet their favorite athletes through exclusive autograph and photo sessions with Golden Boy Promotions fighters and the attractive Chicas Tecate. Hooters To Host Opening Press Conference For “Date With Destiny”

March 31 (Merrillville, In) – Destiny has brought these two world champions together for their April 25th “Date With Destiny” at the Hammond Civic Center, but on April 4th the NABC Lightweight World Champion “Merciless” Mary McGee and WBF Light Welterweight Champion Kristy “Rose” Follmar will go face-to-face for the first time.

This press conference will take place at the Schererville Hooters, 1650 US Hwy 41, at 2 p.m. and is open to all media outlets and to the public.

“This is a fight that will be explosive from the first punch and this press conference will have its fair share of fireworks,” said Octavius James, C.E.O. of One In A Million Inc. “They haven’t seen each other at all since this fight was announced and with the help of Scott Milligan of North Coast Distributing and Jessica Mahler of Hooters and Miller Lite, they will get a chance to look each other directly in the eye for the first time.”

The vacant WBC Light Welterweight World Title and McGee’s NABC Lightweight World Title will both be up for grabs when these two warriors battle it out. McGee (16-0, 10 KOs) is coming off a sensational 3rd round TKO over Jessica Mohs on Jan. 23rd at “SLUGFEST 2009,” while Follmar (16-1, 9 KOs) enters the bout after winning a 10-round decision over Eva Jones Young for the WBF Light Welterweight Title.

KITCHENER, Ontario, MARCH 30, 2009 – From April 3 to 5, the Ontario Golden Gloves and Primetime Prospects Invitational will come to Kitchener’s Delta Hotel, where fans can watch fighters square off for the opportunity to win a $25,000 promotional contract and meet some of boxing’s esteemed athletes and personalities.
