LOS ANGELES – Former WBO heavyweight and current NABA heavyweight champion “Relentless” Lamon Brewster has signed a deal with German-based promotional outfit Sauerland Event. Brewster, 34-4 (30 knockouts) will fight in the co-featured slot of IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham’s world title defense against Lajuan Simon on March 14 at the Ostseehalle in Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany..
His opponent will be former British heavyweight champion Michael Sprott, who carries a record of 31-12 (16 knockouts), and is a native of Reading, England. Sprott, age 34, became the first man to knock out Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison in 2007, accomplishing the feat in three rounds. He also holds wins over notable contenders Danny Williams and Timo Hoffman.
“I’m ready for this fight,” said Brewster, a native of Indianapolis who now lives in Los Angeles, California. “This fight will be the first time that the world will get to see the real Lamon Brewster. After the death of my trainer Bill Slayton, it took me a long time to mentally regain my freedom. The world hasn’t yet seen what I can do. I can sit here and tell you all day but seeing is believing.”
Lamon Brewster, age 35, won the heavyweight title when he knocked out Wladimir Klitschko in five rounds in 2004. Brewster made three successful defenses before dropping a decision to Sergei Lyakhovich. In his last fight, Brewster knocked out Danny Batchelder in five rounds this past August.
Sauerland Event has guided the careers of world champions Henry Maske, Sven Ottke, Nicolay Valuev among others.
“I signed with Wilfried Sauerland because I had the pleasure of meeting him before and he’s one of the fairest promoters around boxing,” Brewster said. “If you ask around boxing, you don’t have anyone saying ‘Oh, he stole this from me.’ I’m a Midwest boy with Southern ways. He just seemed like the type of guy that I could do business with because he won’t be out to nickel and dime me.”
Brewster says that after three fights, he will be ready for the rubber match with Wladimir Klitschko. Klitschko won a rematch in 2007 when Brewster was recovering from a detached retina and a 15-month layoff. The first time they fought, Brewster had been off for 13 months. Brewster wants to find out what happens when they fight without a layoff.
“I had spent six months out of fifteen months laying face down before I fought him. I was at the point where I couldn’t even hold my child. I wasn’t right but I did the best I could. Because I knocked him out before I thought I had a chance but that was a lot of rust for me to shake. He knew the only chance he had to beat me was if I was coming off an injury and a layoff. But I’m right now and I’m taking on all comers. I’m knocking out everyone who steps in the ring with me.
“Anybody with a world title who isn’t scared to fight me, come get it.”

Derrick Samuels vs Roberto Valenzuela to headline “Fight Night” At the A La Carte Event Pavilion March 27!
Tampa, FL – Rising Junior Welterweight Derrick “Super” Samuels 16-4-1 (4 KO’s) of Orlando, FL will risk his NABA-US title Friday March 27 against grizzled 95 fight veteran Roberto Valenzuela. Valenzuela of Sonora, Mexico, has gone to war with many champions and contenders including Jose Luis Castillo, Andre Berto, Cesar Bazan, and Demetrius Hopkins. The Samuels-Valenzuela bout is scheduled for ten rounds.
The undercard will be topped by two exciting co-main events. The first will feature an eight round Cruiserweight showdown between Floridians Nicholas Iannuzzi 9-0 (6 KO’s) of Tampa and Theo Kruger 9-7-1 (3 KO’s) of Port Charlotte. Iannuzzi is making a much anticipated return following his impressive 5th round KO against previously unbeaten Terry Roy last November. The experienced Kruger has only lost once in his last four fights.
The second co-feature will display immensely talented Welterweight prospect Keith “One Time” Thurman 8-0 (8 KO’s) of Clearwater, FL. Thurman, the 2008 Olympic Trials Silver Medalist, will face an opponent to be named shortly in a six rounder. Thus far, Thurman has stopped every fighter to step into the ring with him during the first round.
Carlos Rivera will be making his second trip to the ring in less than 45 days as he is scheduled to battle an opponent TBA in a six round Featherweight bout. The Port Richey, FL based prospect, whose pro ledger stands at 15-3-2 (5 KO’s), is coming off a victory over contender Johnnie Edwards on February 13.
Featherweight Jenna “Cowgirl” Shiver 7-4-1 (2 KO’s) of Tampa will battle Pennsylvania’s Christina Leadbeater 2-1 over four. Unbeaten Light Heavyweight Adam Hubinger 12-0 (10 KO’s) will challenge the ever famous TBA over six rounds.
Rounding off the card is a four rounder between Featherweights Charlie Serrano 7-2 (2 KO’s) of Tampa and Jason Rorie 2-2-2 (1 KO). Rorie, who is based out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is a tricky fighter that is tougher than his record indicates.

Bowman will be featured in the main event against former world title challenger Jesus Perez of Cordoba , Columbia , while Nemo will face fellow former world title challenger Jose Bernal of Barranquilla .
