Floyd Mayweather Junior – “If God Says It’s My Time To Come Back I’ll Come Back”

Floyd Mayweather Jr.by James Slater – Now well over a year into what he always did say was a genuine retirement from the sport, Floyd “Money” Mayweather remains one of the most talked about boxers on the planet. Everywhere you go, and whatever boxing website you read, the fans and, to a degree, the experts, are asking when is Floyd gonna come back? Well, in a recent radio interview he conducted with the show Sports Rage, the man himself spoke about the chances of him making a much sought after return to the ring, his pound-for-pound successor Manny Pacquiao, and his former KO victim Ricky Hatton.

As usual, Mayweather Junior, now almost 32-years-of age, was full of himself and not shy to criticise both “Pac-Man” and the “Hitman.”

Mayweather began by speaking about the Filipino many want to see him come back and fight in what would be a mega-match. Though “Money” believes Pacquiao is a “good” fighter, he does not agree with those who say the southpaw dynamo is the pound-for-pound best in the world.

“We all know, if you did your homework, that Manny Pacquiao is a good fighter,” Floyd said. “Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao if that’s what they feel ( referring to the boxing experts and fans who now call Pacquiao the P-4-P best). [But] I take that away from Manny Pacquiao. He’s been knocked down in the first round before and like three or four years ago, he’s the guy that’s out-boxed by a washed out Erik Morales. So I ask you a question right there.

“Manny Pacquiao fought with one of the Marquez brothers, right? One of the Marquez brothers knocked him down three times in the first round and still got a draw so we know that he’s got out-boxed in that fight, for real. And then he fought him again and won by one point.”

No doubt every reader of this article will immediately spot Mayweather’s mistake. It was Pacquiao who knocked Juan Manuel Marquez down three times in the 1st round of their first fight, not the other way around. Still, many fans will also no doubt agree with Floyd when he says Marquez out-boxed Pacquaio. Naturally, the best way to sort out who is the better P-4-P fighter today – either Pacquiao or Mayweather – would be for “Money” to come back and box “Pac-Man.”

Floyd spoke about how he feels with regards to his coming back, or not coming back.

“If God says it’s my time to come back I’ll come back, but as of now, I’m not looking,” Mayweather said. “Right now my main focus is my kids, and me outside of boxing, and making hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars – just being smart and being an entrepreneur.”

It seems, then, for the time being at least, 31-year-old Floyd “Money” Mayweather is content in making his nickname more and more an appropriate one. However, Floyd did give his opinion on the upcoming clash between Pacquiao and Hatton.

“If Manny Pacquiao wins, I wouldn’t be surprised,” Floyd stated. “The reason why is that I took everything out of Ricky Hatton.”
