EL CAJON, CA (July 31, 2008) Wednesday night undefeated prospects Luis Ramos and Carlos Molina of the Espinoza Boxing Club scored knockouts in their broadcast debuts on ESPN2’s Wednesday Night Fights from the Sycuan Resort and Casino in El Cajon, California, just outside of San Diego..
Said Frank Espinoza, President of the Espinoza Boxing Club, “It was a terrific night. Luis and Carlos both had terrific performances on TV. I’m looking to get them both back in the ring in September..”
In the televised scheduled six rounder, southpaw lightweight prospect Luis Ramos moved to 6-0 (4KO’s) with a stoppage of Mexico’s Aaron Dominguez. Only 19 years old, Ramos, from Santa Ana, California, showed skills of a much more experienced fighter as he worked behind a terrific jab the entire fight, scoring at will with solid counter punching of the forward charging Dominguez.
Ramos dropped Dominguez twice late in the fifth round and scored the victory when Dominguez, 7-2-1 (5KO’s) did not come out for the final round.
Molina, in a scheduled four rounder, showed a granite chin which he combined with short powerful inside punches to stop Ramon Flores. With Flores throwing punches from unorthodox angles, Molina followed him around the ring successfully counterpunching throughout the first two rounds.
Towards the end of the second round after eating a Flores uppercut, Molina countered with a terrific left hook that combined with an overhand right to stop Flores at 2:47 of the round.
With the win, the 22 year old Molina of Commerce, California scored his first professional knockout and moved to 4-0 (1KO) while Flores fell to 2-2-1 (2KO’s).
Also fighting out of the Espinoza Boxing Club, Manny “SUAVECITO Roman improved to 13-0-1 (5KO’s) with a workmanlike eight round decision win over Juan Javier Lagos in a bout that was not televised. Scores were 80-72 on all three scorecards for the 20 year old from Paramount, California.
The ESPINOZA BOXING CLUB was started in 1991 by Los Angeles area businessman Frank Espinoza. Espinoza has earned numerous accolades for his management skills from many boxing newspaper and internet writers. In the September 2008 issue of Ring Magazine, Espinoza is praised for his outstanding handling of the career of junior featherweight world champion and “Pound for Pound” superstar Israel “EL MAGNIFICO” Vazquez.
Espinoza also has managed retired former world champion Martin “EL GALLITO” Castillo and currently manages former world champion Julio “LA SOMBRA” Zarate along with world ranked Alex Valdez and Miguel “EL ANESTESISTA” Huerta in addition to undefeated prospects Manuel “SUAVECITO” Roman, Jesus “POLLO” Hernandez, Luis Ramos, Carlos Molina and Abraham Lopez.
