Chris Arreola-Andrew Golota – Who Wins?

By James Slater: Talk about a match-up that has “Fun-fight” written all over it. An Andrew Golota-Chris Arreola fight would more than likely be a bout well worth making and then well worth watching. There is no official word yet on who either guy will face next, but both men should be back in action before too long..

Andrew GolotaArreola, at age 27 and with an unbeaten record of 24-0(21) just might be a future world heavyweight champion. Certainly, he’s beginning to look like one of America’s brightest heavyweight prospects – a hardworking, naturally tough and extremely capable fighter.

Word is “The Nightmare” may be fighting David Tua next, but such talk is mere speculation at this point. That too would be a fascinating fight, and one that would tell us yet more about the Californian and his chances of reaching the very top. But should that fight not come off, an Andrew Golota clash would fit in nicely instead.

Golota, now aged 40 and with a record of 41-6-1(33) boxed one of his most disciplined fights last time out. Out-pointing the game Mike Mollo over 12 rounds back in January, the man once known as “The Foul Pole” was anything but, as he maintained his composure even with a grotesquely swollen eye. A few years ago, such an injury would surely have prompted a nervy Golota to try and end the fight as soon as possible – and by any means, legal and illegal. But against Mollo the 40-year-old remained calm and put on a most respectable showing.

A fight between Golota and Arreola would likely give the fans an all-action bout. Golota wants one more crack at the title before he’s through and Arreola wants his shot also. With much on the line, both men would give it everything. Arreola only knows one way to fight – aggressively. And Golota too is a hard punching front foot type of guy. Quite simply, these two coming together in mid-ring, going at one another with bad intentions, would be a sight to see – one that would produce a battle that would have zero chance of being anything but an explosion. And anything could happen, too.

Golota, as we’ve seen in the past, can be blown away quickly. But he is also more than capable of putting his opponent through a hellishly tough night. Arreola starts fast and as such he would be looking for that quick and impressive KO. But with a determined Golota ready to meet him head on – knowing his very career was on the line – Arreola would be facing a man more than willing to throw bombs back at him. The fight would catch fire instantly and both men would take turns unloading. Really, what’s not to like about this fight?
Surely there is a promoter out there who has the same idea when it comes to the potential a Arreola-Golota bout carries, and hopefully the match will get made – at least if Tua’s services are unavailable for “The Nightmare.”

With a combined 480 well conditioned pounds colliding in the middle of the ring, a classic slugfest could well be upon us should these two heavyweight bangers meet in the future!
