Duva Boxing Inks welterweight prospect James DeLaRosa

Duva Boxing president Dino Duva has announced the signing of hot shot welterweight prospect James DeLaRosa to a co-promotional agreement with Cavazos Boxing. The unbeaten star from Harlingen, Texas will make his Duva debut on the June 13th ESPN2 Friday Night Fights card headlined by Ola Afolabli..

“This is a very exciting signing for Duva Boxing. James is the whole package-skills, power, and marketability,” said Duva. He has a smile you’ve got to love, he can fight and he is only 20 years old! This kid is the future superstar of the welterweight division. I am really looking forward to working together with James, his father Pete and my partner Anthony Cavazos. I only want to work with good people that I feel comfortable with and I feel very comfortable with all of them.”

DeLaRosa was born and raised in Harlingen, Texas. The 20-year-old has a 16-0 ring record with 12 victories coming by way of knockout. DeLaRosa has defeated his last four opponents with a knockout.

“It is a dream come true to be fighting on ESPN2, especially at the age of 20,” said DeLaRosa. “I am going to go out there and put on a show for the people of Scranton and all of the fight fans watching on TV.”

In the main event, Ola Afolabi will make his Duva Boxing debut when he steps into the ring for a 10 round affair against Francisco Palacios (14-0, 7 KO’s) of Puerto Rico. Palacios is a former world amateur champion and is promoted by Don King Productions.
