Susi Kentikian vs Sarah Goodson This Friday

Fighting action with two world champions on Friday February 29 from 7:30 pm at the Sporthalle Hamburg: WIBF/WBA world champion Susi Kentikian faces the WIBF champion at Minimumweight Sarah „Thrilla´ from Manila“ Goodson. It will be her first title defence which will be broadcasted by ProSieben Germany LIVE. TV commentators for the event will be Regina Halmich and Jan Stecker..

2008 starts with the next generation of boxing champions, the young and talented fighters out of the spotlight boxing team. For the reigning WIBF/WBA world champion at flyweight, Susi „Killer Queen“ Kentikian the year starts on February 29. In her hometown of Hamburg, the in 19 fights unbeaten champion will defend her WIBF and WBA belt for the first time.

Kentikian celebrated the most important win of her young career by fascinating her hometown crowd with a fantastic fight at the end of last year. Now the experienced 34 year old Sarah Goodson is in the line up to challenge the “Killer Queen” and her belts: the Paris based Philippine Sarah Goodson – current WIBF world champion at minimumweight – has already 42 fights (26 victories with 9 by KO). Kentikian is still unbeaten in her 19 fights with 14 KOs.

In December 2007, Kentikian kept her WBA flyweight belt and won the vacant WIBF flyweight belt, formerly held by Regina Halmich. She defeated Nadia Hokmi of France by unanimious decision (97:94, 96:94, 97:95) and is now the successor of Regina Halmich, who vacated the title a week after her final win in Karlsruhe.

Kentikian: “It’s incredible, I am a double world champion and super proud to hold Regina’s belt. I will defend the title for as long as possible. Regina is not only my big role model, she has paved the way for us women in boxing. Now we must see what we make of it. I am ready!”

German super featherweight Vitali Tajbert will fight for the EU championship title in the co-feature of the night against the Spaniard Jesus Garcia Escalona. The record of the unbeaten Tajbert is standing at 14-0 with 6 KOs while Escalona is also unbeaten in 15 fights with 6 KOs. A tough challenge for Tajbert who has been preparing for the fight with his coach Magomed Schaburow in the Bavarian Alps: “I know no fear. As usual, I’m really prepared and will use my complete skills to defeat my opponent. To box beside Susi as a main fighter, pleases me very much, above all because my fight will be broadcast in its entirety and not only the highlights. I promise that the fans get to see a hot fight!”

Also in action will be heavyweights Sebastian Köber (12-0-0 (11)) and Dieter Roth (16-0-0 (10)) as well as the middlweight KO-artist Gennady Golovkin (9-0-0 (8)). Also scheduled are featherweight Marcel Meyerdiercks (5-0-0 (3)) and heavyweight Markus Tomala, who will be making his pro debut .
