By Per Ake Persson: January 27, Gothenburg, Sweden- Heavyweight Aldo Colliander won a deserved majority decision after four rounds (the maximum distance allowed by the Swedish Martial Arts Delegation) over former cruiser champ Robert Daniels in the headliner of New Sweden Boxing Promotion´s show at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg. Aldo fought a cool, controlled fight in the first two but was under pressure in the last round. He had a badly swollen, possibly broken, right hand and said afterwards he had hurt it in a sparring session the week of the fight but not told anyone. Scores: 39-37, 39-38 and 38-38..
Aasa Sandell stopped inept and much too small American Tiffany Carterw, who didn´t come out for the fourth round of this female middleweight fight.
Comebacking heavy Mikael Lindblad stopped American Matt Anderson in the first after three knockdowns.
German jr middle Ibrahim Barakat knocked out William Brown in the second and it was a bad knockout despite the ten ounce amateur gloves used.
Johan Thorbjornsson, also at heavy, returned and won a close majority decicion over always tough Russian Daniel Peret. Thorbjornsson made a bright start and faded in the two last.
Josip Janusic and Giulian Ilie drew over four, lightheavies.
Welter Daniel Hartvig turned pro and stopped German Guney Kandemir in the third. Hartvig was given a special award, the Bo Hogberg Award for Toughest Fighter on the Show. There´s a movie in the making of the late former EBU jr middlechamp who is regarded as the toughest Swedish fighter of all time.
Feather Richard Lundby also made his pro debut and outscored Finn Tommy Heiniemi over four.
Heavyweight Joey Abell stopped Emgrin Solmaz in the second.
Welter Benjamin Kalinovic outscored Boris Akopov over four.
The show drew around 4 000 fans to arena and was televised live by TV4+. There were boxing fans coming in from all over Sweden for this special event, the first pro boxing show here since 1969. There were many ex-fighters on hand: Anders Eklund, George Scott and Roland Ericsson just to name a few.
