Antonio Escalante Back In Action On Jan 26

25.12.06 – Electrifying super bantamweight prospect Antonio Escalante will battle Leivi Brea in the twelve round main event on Friday, January 26th at Cicero Stadium, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, HOME OF THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING. The Escalante/Brea bout headlines another terrific evening of world class professional boxing broadcast internationally on SOLO BOXEO TECATE and presented by 8 Count Productions along with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and TCF Bank..

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Tickets, starting at $30, are on sale in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Escalante, 14-1 (9KO’s), a native of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, returns to Cicero Stadium one year after his decision win over Jose Hernandez on January 27, 2006. Since that ferocious battle which is very high on many national boxing writers list for “2006 Fight of the Year”, Escalante has won three bouts including a twelve round decision over Juan Ruiz on May 12, 2006 at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom. His most recent win was a crushing second round knockout of Omar Adorno on October 21, 2006 which was broadcast on HBO-PPV from Escalante’s hometown of El Paso, Texas.

The 21 year old Escalante currently holds the WBO NABO Super Bantamweight Title which he won with his decision over Ruiz.

Brea, 16-3-3 (8KO’s), a native of the Dominican Republic, had won fourteen bouts in a row before losing to world ranked Jorge Lacierva on October 7, 2006 at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on the Joel Casamayor/Diego Corrales III undercard.

Also featured on the January 26th event in separate bouts is undefeated lightweight prospect Mike Gonzales and super bantamweight crowd favorite Ivan Hernandez.

Additionally, on the card is undefeated Chicago welterweight prospect Achour Esho and Puerto Rican bantamweight prospect Jonas Hernandez.

Super bantamweight Brooke Dierdorff will appear in a scheduled four round women’s bout.
