Joey Abell to Headline On Friday Night in Philly

PHILADELPHIA (November 29, 2006)—Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell will walk in to the preverbal “Lyons Den” on Friday night at The Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia. Abell. 9-0 with all wins coming by knockout will take on Aaron Lyons, 2-0 with one knockout in battle of undefeated heavyweight scheduled for six rounds..

Abell will be making his fifth consecutive and sixth overall at the Legendary Blue Horizon and has quickly developed a big following in the hot Philadelphia boxing scene due to his awesome knockout prowess.

He is coming off a four round destruction over 52-fight veteran, Louis Monaco back on October 13.

Lyons, a native of Gulfport, Mississippi will not be intimidated by Abell as he wants to keep his own undefeated mark intact.

Lyons has been in this situation before as he is coming off a no-contest against then 8-0 Moultrie Witherspoon back on June 30.

Steve “Showtime” Chambers, will take on Lenny “Diablo” DeVictoria in a scheduled eight round bout featuring Philadelphia Jr. Welterweights.

Chambers, 13-1-1 with four knockouts, has won nine straight (including one no-contest), including a terrific back and forth battle with DeVictoria that took place on September 10, 2004 at The Legendary Blue Horizon. Chambers narrowly got the split-decision on that evening in a bout that all in attendance thought could have gone either way.

Chambers is coming off a third round stoppage over Reggie Nash on September 15 and has fought all but one of his bouts at The Legendary Blue Horizon.

DeVictoria, 8-6 with two knockouts will be making his seventh appearance at The Legendary Blue Horizon has been in with some of the toughest fighters in the world as evidenced by his opponents having a record of 85-24-6 at the time when DeVictoria stepped in the ring with them.

DeVictoria will be starving for a win as he has dropped three straight bouts to hot prospects, Mario Santiago, Jose Hernandez and Jorge Teron who had a combined record of 45-3-1 at the time of the bout.

The bout with Santiago was shown on national television as he DeVictoria earned a coveted SHO BOX appearance

Matchmaker, Don Elbaum has put together an exciting undercard in which some of the best local talent will be showcased.

Rising middleweight, Gee Culmer, 9-1 with three knockouts will put his four fight winning streak on the line as he takes on undefeated Bobby Jordan, 2-0-1 with one stoppage on in a scheduled six round bout.

Fresh off his exciting unanimous decision victory in his pro debut at The Legendary Blue Horizon on October 13th, lightweight Bryheim Douglas will get it on with John Lipcomb, 2-7

Undefeated featherweight, Jules Blackwell, 2-0 with one knockout of nearby Phoenixville, PA will take on the debuting Harry Phillips of Cleveland, Ohio in a four round bout.

The big boys will get it on as Samuel Brown, 1-1 of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky will take on the pro debut of Camilous Nichols of New York in a scheduled four round Heavyweight fight.
Rounding out the card will be the pro debut of featherweight Paul Fernandez and he will take on Eylon Kadem, 0-1-1 of Israel.

December 1 will also be the 4th annual children’s show. All fans attending the show can bring a gift for a child between the ages of 1 and 7 years old. For the last four years, the Legendary Blue Horizon has been happy to share our holiday spirit with children in our nonporifit program, NIA KUMBA, our learning center and children in our community;s agencies. Last year with our patron’s help, we were able to provide gifts to four children’s agencies and to St. Christopher’s hospital. Additionally, with your monetary contributions, we were able to provide additional gifts for the mothers of the children in one of the rehab centers. Also we will be honoring three young heroes who just recently saved an 87-year old woman from a burning house.
