Beth Adams, M.ED LRC Joins the Retired Boxers Foundation Medical Advisory Board

[Simi Valley – July 3, 2006] The Retired Boxers Foundation is proud to add Beth Adams, M.Ed. LRC to the RBF Medical Advisory Board. In addition to the doctors already on the Medical Advisory Board, Beth brings an area of expertise that is vital to retired professional boxers who have suffered neurological damage as the result of their career in boxing: Cognitive rehabilitation..

Alex “The Bronx Bomber” Ramos, the Founder and President of the Retired Boxers Foundation nows from first hand experience after nearly 300 amateur and professional fights: “Even a boxer can tell when things are not right. I experienced small tremors in my neck and my balance was horrible. In addition, I was aware that I had some problems that I now know are because of frontal lobe damage to my brain. I learned from experts that you can re-train the brain and develop ways to compensate. My balance is near normal, which is a huge relief. I want fighters to know that there is help–if you go to the doctor and he does an MRI, chances are, it will be normal. You go home scratching your head because you KNOW something is wrong. With the proper medical assessment, which includes the neuro work up and probably a neuro-psychiatric exam, you can pinpoint the damage and begin your recovery. Beth Adams is an expert on neuro trauma and help rehabilitate your ability to function even with brain injuries.

Beth A. Adams M.Ed LRC is a nationally recognized Neurotrauma Rehabilitation Specialist in the Boston area who provides specialized and individualized rehabilitation services to those who have sustained a concussion or traumatic brain injury.
