Heavyweights Collide On ESPN 2 “Friday Night Fights”

14.04.06 – By Steven Ettori: Boxing fans this Friday night April 14 on ESPN 2 don’t miss out in the heavyweight main event clash between Audley “A Force” Harrison 20-1(14KO’S) and Dominic “The Southern Disaster” Guinn 25-3-1(18KO’S).The card will take place at Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage,CA and is being promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions. This is a critical fight for both former top 10 heavyweight contenders looking to be back in the heavyweight mix and top 10 rankings. The stakes are high as the loser would fall to former contender/ journey man status..

Harrison a 34 year old southpaw from London, England now living in Las Vegas, was the 2000 Olympic Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist. He had racked up 19 consecutive victories before losing for the first time this past December in London against Danny Williams. The defeat was a split decision with scores of 114-113,112-116, and 113-116 for Williams. Williams captured the Vacant Commonwealth Heavyweight Title with the victory. Harrison felt it was his “worst performance” and is looking to make up for it against Guinn. Harrison has come to Vegas to revive his career and face top opposition and to be recognized more by the American public. A victory against Guinn should put him in HBO, Showtime, PPV status here in the states.

Guinn “The Southern Disaster” 30 years old from Hot Springs, AR now training in California under new trainer Joe Goossen feels like he has a lot to prove and his best is yet to come. He has recently felt his boxing career renewed since joining Goossen Tutor Promotions. Guinn’s last performance was a unanimous decision lost to James Toney in October of last year. Previously he has had a draw to Friday Ahunanya in April 2005 and losses to new WBO Champ Sergie Liakhovich and Monte Barrett in 2004. His last victory a KO was two years ago in July of 2004 against Phil Jackson. It’s been a long time since he has had a victory. His back is against the wall and needs a victory and good outing against Harrison to show fight fans that he is feel real, that early expectations in his career were not in vain.

Both Harrison and Guinn have a lot to prove and are hoping to revive their careers, thus making this a match up that shouldn’t be missed.
