20.06.05 – European Super-Featherweight Champion Boris Sinitsin will use Alex Arthur to sharpen up for a world title challenge later this year. Boris the Blade defends his crown against the Edinburgh star on Saturday 9 July at the Meadowbank Stadium and has promised to beat the hometown favourite and go on to face WBC Champ Marco Antonio Barrera..
The Moscow hardman has already defeated Arthur’s countryman Craig Docherty in a brutal battle last October and is relishing a return to Scotland to face the reigning British and Commonwealth champion.
“I am happy to return to Scotland once more and defend my title,” said Sinitsin.
“Arthur has earned his chance at my title but it is a step too far for him. He is still young and inexperienced and maybe this opportunity has come too soon for him but we will see,”
“I have not challenged for a world title and that is my ambition after this fight. A fight against Marco Antonio Barrera is the one I want and my management are confident I will get him after I have beaten Arthur,”
In a career that spans 13 years, Sinitsin has amassed a record of 54 fights with 46 wins and 24 KO’s. All ten of his European title fights have taken place out of his home country.
He continued, “I have fought for many years all over the world learning the fight business and all my title fights have been in the opponents country so fighting in Arthur’s town will not bother me.”
“Remember, I beat Craig Docherty in Glasgow in front of his fans and I will do the same to Arthur,”
Sinitsin finished by saying, “I will not give up my title and Arthur had better be prepared for a bloody and hard fight.”
