TSN to debut the new boxing program IN THIS CORNER

22.09.04 – Fresh off the heels of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, outspoken Canadian boxing broadcaster Russ Anber gets in the ring with TSN to debut the new boxing program IN THIS CORNER With Russ Anber, premiering Monday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. ET. The premiere episode, shot at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas – site of this Saturday’s Oscar De la Hoya vs. Bernard Hopkins middleweight title fight – features Anber’s reaction to the weekend’s big bout, as well as comprehensive analysis.

IN THIS CORNER With Russ Anber airs regularly on TSN every Monday at 7 p.m. ET. ESPN Classic Canada will provide encores of each episode Wednesdays during its weekly boxing coverage at 10:30 p.m. ET.

TSN veteran Vic Rauter hosts the half-hour show and will join Anber as he provides complete analysis of major professional and amateur fights and previews upcoming matches. Throughout the year, Anber will offer comprehensive breakdowns of the sport’s biggest fights, including the upcoming De la Hoya vs. Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr. vs. Glen Johnson and Laila Ali vs. Gwendolyn O’Neil fights, all of which will be televised on TSN within the next two weeks.

With his extensive coaching experience at the professional and amateur levels, combined with his no-nonsense analysis, Anber has developed a reputation as one of Canada’s most successful boxing broadcasters. In addition to his new show IN THIS CORNER With Russ Anber, Anber can be found on special pay-per-view boxing preview shows on TSN, as well as working as host, researcher and writer for ESPN Classic Canada’s weekly boxing shows HBO Boxing Classics and Classic Night at the Fights. Anber’s broadcasting resume also includes co-hosting boxing coverage during three Olympics including Athens 2004, four Commonwealth Games and numerous world and national amateur boxing championships.
