After Adrien Broner suffered his first professional loss to Marcos Maidana this past Saturday night, the feeling of impending drama was fierce.
Maybe it wasn’t the loss itself, but instead the way Maidana took over and made it look like a high quality sparring session. Broner, the young champion that has been making high waves in the boxing community, suffered a similar fate as Andre Berto, who also appeared like a possible boxing sensation before the limit of his boxing ability was exposed.
Now, after all is said and done, Marcos Maidana and his team are under formal investigation for possibly, cheating. In a video posted by TMZ, Alex Ariza is holding a napkin, and at one point, in a low quality replay, looks like is placing a while pill-sized object onto the napkin, and then bringing that napkin to Maidana’s mouth.
Floyd Mayweather Sr. says he saw Adrien Broner’s fight last Saturday night against Marcos Maidana, and he doesn’t believe Broner can go anywhere in the sport with the skill-set that he currently has. Mayweather Sr. sees too many flaws in his game for Broner to get to the next level, but he thinks he can fix the problems in his game and take him to the next level.
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-1-1, 30 KO’s) is expected to select his next opponent for his March 8th fight date this week. The fight will be pay-per-view, so whoever it is, it’s going to be a fight that the boxing public will be expected to pay to see. That’s not a big deal because Canelo’s fights are frequently exciting affairs with tons of action. 
If you can’t be a part of the people, at least don’t be a party to the problem that the people are intending to solve. Where in the rule of reason or any sanctioning body in boxing we can find a provision which states that beating Adrien “The Problem” Broner can be translated into a credential to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.? What if Robert Guerrero and Canelo Alvarez would whip Broner in an even more convincing fashion which is highly probable? Does that earn Guerrero and Alvarez the fresh mandate to battle Mayweather again? 
Marcos “El Chino” Maidana shook up the boxing world as he upset, Adrien “The Problem” Broner over twelve dominating rounds in which he scored two knockdowns and in the process became the new World Boxing Association Champion with an unanimous decision victory by three scorecards of 115-110, 116-109 and 117-109. This competitive and really interesting welterweight bout, which could be considered the upset of the year, was held at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas and was televised on Showtime. 
The WBC is proud and honored to confirm the status of Vitali Klitschko as WBC Heavyweight World Champion Emeritus. Undoubtedly, Vitali has earned that distinction through his actions inside and outside the ring.
Saturday nights Maidana/Broner fight sure wasn’t a shocker to most, many believed that Maidana would give Broner a dose of humility. Many claimed that Broner was a Mayweather ‘wannabe’. Paulie Malignaggi’s crying of fowl after losing a close decision to Broner last June turned out to be closer to reality than previously thought. As a Broner fan I expected Broner to BEAT Maidana, but Saturday night Maidana was not to be denied!
