Brian Rose gets his dream shot against Boo-Boo in the summer

Brian ‘the lion’ Rose will finally see his dream of challenging for a world title come true this summer when he travels to America to oppose reigning WBO light-middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade, live on Sky Sports and HBO.

In his last outing Blackpool’s Rose defeated Javier Maciel in a thrilling contest that served as a final eliminator for Andrade’s strap. In December 2012 he won the Lonsdale belt outright by winning a unanimous decision over Sam Webb; four months later, in the same venue, he stepped up onto the world stage to face Joachim Alcine for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title, stopping him in the final round.

Ondrej Pala: David Price has lost twice, he can lose again!

Last November he experienced a bitter end of the closely watched fight with Dereck Chisora (20-4). A few months later, the best Czech heavyweight fighter Ondřej Pála (33-4) is going to face another rival from the British Islands, David Price (16-2), no matter that he competes for a German team with the Austrian Sauerland Event licence, David Price.

Approximately half the way through a seven-week-long training, the 29-year-old member of the Médea Boxing Team of Prague is quite content. “I feel perfect,” says a noticeably thinner Pála in an interview with Proxiboxing.cz. “Next week, tall guys are going to come for sparring, everything has been going smoothly so far,” adds his coach Jurij Krivoručko.

Deontay Wilder: “Malik wasn’t fighting his friend, he was fighting the Bronze Bomber”

004 Wilder vs Scott IMG_1297In what was supposed to be his toughest test to date according to most boxing pundits and fight experts, WBC Heavyweight title challenger Deontay Wilder destroyed 13 year fight veteran Malik Scott in just 96 seconds this past Saturday night in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

The “Bronze Bomber” took care of business with a cracking left hook/straight right hand combination that suddenly floored his 33 year old opponent midway through the opening stanza of the scheduled twelve round contest. Although the experienced boxer/puncher attempted to reach his feet before the referee’s final count, Scott failed to show signs of an ability to continue and was counted out by the third man in the ring.

But as quickly as the Tuscaloosa, Alabama native finished the job, fight fans and boxing scribes everywhere began to tarnish his dominant KO performance with sentiments of corruption, regurgitating the idea that the proud Philadelphia born pugilist and fringe contender “took a dive”.

Marquez Vs. Alvarado on May 17th

Marquez Vs. Alvarado on May 17th

The fight will take place at Inglewood, California on May 17th and it will be televised live on HBO. The winner of this elimination bout will be the mandatory challenger for the winner of Pacquiao Vs. Bradley. This means there is a hope of Paquiao Vs. Marquez 5 if both of them come out victorious from their fights….. Unless there is a spoiler.

I have a strong feeling that Pacquaio will come out as the winner in his upcoming fight by an impressive performance. Lets face it: Pacquiao will go for the kill against Bradley because he needs to avenge his “loss” and he will not hesitate because of Bradley’s feather dusting punching power. Bradley will not be able to outbox Pacquiao like he did with Marquez. Pacquiao is not a “wait and counter punch” fighter like Marquez. He will move in with a strong offense and that will push Bradley to fight or run. Either way he will get caught by a fighter much faster and powerful than fighters like Kendal Holt and Prodnikov who have made Bradley taste the floor.

Cunningham Fighting For More Than Just A Belt 4/4 in Philly

Philadelphia, PA: Steve “USS” Cunningham (26-6-0, 12 KOs) has more motivation than ever to defeat Amir “Hardcore” Mansour (20-0-0, 15 KOs) on Friday, April 4th at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA and live on NBCSN Fight Night. Cunningham said, “This isn’t about a belt or about winning, this time I need this for my family. I need to make money. I have to get a new house for my daughter’s condition. I am fighting for another pay day and to keep going. ”

His opponent did not fight professionally for over nine years while he served time in Schuylkill Federal Correctional Institution in Minersville, PA for drug possession, though he spent any free time training and honing his boxing skills behind bars. Steve took a very different path to get here. He learned to box while serving in the United States Navy but he believes both men are equally as hungry, “I know Mansour speaks about how hungry he is and how his time in prison made him so, but I don’t have time to waste either. I am fighting for something much more important.”

Odlanier Solis ready for “epic battle” against Tony Thompson

Odlanier Solis ready for "epic battle" against Tony Thompson

Cuban heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis has spent the last two weeks in Turkey to get ready for his WBC international heavyweight championship bout this Saturday (March 22nd) in Tekirdag against US veteran Tony Thompson. Promoter Ahmet Oner used the long and proud history of his home country to get Solis heated up for the clash of former Klitschko foes.

“We went to the cinema to watch ‘300: Rise of an Empire’. The next day I took Solis to ancient graves from the times of the Ottoman empire”, says Oner. “I wanted to show Solis that he is in a country which has seen a lot of big and important battles over thousands of years. I expect him to enter the ring on Saturday with the same attitude of old Ottoman fighters when they went to war. This is a do or die fight. If Solis beats Thompson I will lead him to another world title fight. But if he loses it might be all over.”

Ekpo made mandatory challenger to Commonwealth Super Middleweight title

Ghana based Nigerian pugilist, Isaac Ekpo has been awarded mandatory status by the Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) for their Super Middleweight championship.

The title has become vacant following the failure of Ghana’s Charles Adamu The Crusader to annex it last Saturday after a unanimous decision loss to hitherto champion, Rocky Fielding who was stripped of the belt even before he faced Adamu for failing to make the weight.

Boxing 411: “Mayweather vs. Maidana” analysis with Jesse James Leija

YouTube video
Last week, Boxing 411 caught up with two time world champion and talented young fight promoter Jesse James Leija to analyze the upcoming super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana, which is slated to be broadcast on Showtime PPV on May3rd, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The knowledgeable fight trainer and former world champion recognizes the gifts that both fighters will bring to the ring and examines the tumultuous fight style of “El Chino” Maidana versus the seemingly impervious defensive technique of “Money” Mayweather.

“I expect to see a great, great fight on May 3rd and a tough, tough fight for both fighters,” observes the budding young boxing promoter. “Mayweather brings intelligence, speed, and experience to the ring, and Maidana is so brutally tough that he’ll give you everything you can handle on fight night.”
