Unbeaten Dillian Whyte (16-0, 13 KOs) will be fighting Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) this Saturday night I a grudge match for the vacant British heavyweight title at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Hearn expects Brook-Khan deal to be done by next week
If promoter Eddie Hearn gets his way, he’ll be putting together the Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan fight together by next week. Hearn says that he hopes he can get a deal done between the two British welterweights by next week now that Khan has been passed over by Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao for his April fight.
Hearn has impressed upon Khan the need to get the Brook fight done in the next couple of weeks or else he’ll miss out on the fight for the summer. It’s unclear who Hearn has waiting in the wings to match against Brook other than Kevin Bizier, but he seems to think that there’s a rush for Khan to make the fight.

Dibella expects Szpilka to go all out against Wilder
Promoter Lou Dibella thinks Polish underdog Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) will let it all hang out in his title challenge next month against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) in their fight on January 16th on Showtime at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dibella believes that Szpilka will go after the 6’7” Wilder in the same way that Polish cruiserweight Krzysztof] Glowacki tore into long-time WBO cruiserweight Marco Huck to score an 11th round knockout last August to win the WBO title. Glowacki and Huck both hit the deck in that fight in one of the most exciting contests of the year thus far.

In 1990 Evander Holyfield was the mandatory contender for the Heavyweight Title then held by Mike Tyson. Though Tyson’s title defense was overdue, Tyson was permitted to engage in an optional title defense with James Buster Douglas. As we all know, Douglas won by knockout. Thereafter all hell broke loose. Don King, at the time Douglas’ promoter, and one of the ratings organizations wanted a rematch, avoiding Holyfield. The other organizations were prepared to follow their rules and directed that the Holyfield mandatory take place.

Undefeated WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder will make the third defense of his title against brawling Polish contender Artur Szpilka on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, live on SHOWTIME® (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).
The 12-round SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® main event between the power-punching Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs), of Wieliczka, Poland, will be the first heavyweight title fight in Brooklyn since James Jeffries knocked out James Corbett in the 23rd round on May 11, 1900, on Coney Island.
IBF Statement on Tyson Fury
The IBF Heavyweight World Title, which was won by Tyson Fury on November 28, 2015 when he beat the reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko in an optional defense of this title, was vacated on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 by the IBF as Tyson Fury is unable to make the mandatory defense of the IBF title against challenger Vyacheslav Glaskov because he is contractually obligated to a rematch with Klitschko, which is in direct violation of the IBF/USBA Rules Governing Championship Contests.
Chisora to fight on Joshua vs. Whyte card on Saturday
Former world title challenger Dereck Chisora (23-5, 15 KOs) will be making a quick turnaround by fighting on this Saturday’s Sky Box Office card against TBA at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Chisora, 31, just fought last Saturday night in defeating Peter Erdos in five rounds in Hamburg, Germany. Chisora didn’t sustain any damage in that one-sided fight, so he was able to be put on this Saturday’s Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte card at the O2. Chisora will be replacing featherweight Josh Warrington.
