Khan: It’s payback time for Danny Garcia

With his #1 ranking with the WBC, Amir Khan is on the verge of finally getting one of the fights he wants in him getting a potential crack at the new WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) in his next fight if he wants it. Khan says he definitely wants to face the 27-year-old Garcia so that he can avenge his loss from 2012, and pick up the WBC 147lb title that was recently stripped from Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Last night, Garcia won a close 12 round unanimous decision victory over Robert Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Before a crowd of 12,052 at STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles, Danny “Swift” Garcia, (32-0, 18 KOs) of Philadelphia won a unanimous 12-round decision over Gilroy, Calif.’s Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, (33-4, 18 KOs). Scores were 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecard.

Fighting for the vacant WBC Welterweight World Title in the first Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on FOX event, Guerrero came out aggressively in the first four rounds using a solid jab and strong over hand left hands to control the action.

Using movement, holding and accurate pot shots, unbeaten #2 WBC Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KOs) defeated the slow, easy to hit Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC welterweight title on PBC on Fox at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The fight was there to be won for the 32-year-old Guerrero, but he didn’t do enough in the final six rounds to get the win. Just when a fighter from St. Paul, MN experiences some success on TV, the audience is told he is from Dallas, TX (where he currently trains). Flyover land can’t win, but at least Rob can, and impressively. Going into the main event Friday night at the Casino Del Sol, Tucson, AZ, Rob was the favorite, but few expected him to win by a knockout.

Brant was described as more of a boxer with a good jab. He was favored because he had more experience. In the amateurs, he was a national champ (multiple x’s), and is undefeated as a pro (19-0-0 12KO), Still, Decarlo “3mendo” Perez (15-4-1 5KO) was expected to be one of Rob toughest tests, because he performed well against tougher competition.
