Warriors Boxing and Ural Boxing wish to congratulate the fighter they co-promote, brand-new IBF Cruiserweight World Champion Murat “Iron” Gassiev, for his title-winning victory on December 3 against Denis Lebedev at the Khodynka Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia.
In an entertaining fight, Gassiev (24-0, 17 KOs) of Vladikavkaz, Russia, dropped his countryman Lebedev in the fifth round and won a split decision by scores of 116-112 and 116-111 against a score of 114-113 for the now-former champ.
Brand new IBF Heavyweight Champion “Prince” Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) should be on cloud nine. In just his seventh year of boxing and slightly over third as a professional, Martin already finds himself the sixth southpaw to have ever won a heavyweight championship after scoring a TKO 3 over Ukrainian top contender Vyacheslav Glazkov last Saturday night, January 16, at the Barclay’s Center in New York.
IBF Light Middleweight Champion “King” Carlos Molina (22-5-2, 6 KOs) has signed a managerial contract with Al Haymon and is temporarily training in Mexico City, while promoter and attorney Leon Margules sorts out his immigration issues.
30-year-old Molina, originally from Michoacán, Mexico, says he’s excited to have aligned himself with one of boxing’s most high-profile managers and is looking forward to returning to the ring.
On Friday, December 6, at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, promoters Andrew Wasilewski and Piotr Werner of Ulrich Knockout Promotions, Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing and Dominic Pesoli of 8 Count Promotions will once again bring world-class professional boxing back to the Windy City with their latest blockbuster event, this one entitled “World Championship Boxing: Wlodarczyk vs. Fragomeni 3”.
Brand-new IBF Light Middleweight Champion “King” Carlos Molina says when he heard the ring announcer say the words “and the NEW”, he could finally relax a bit.
“I knew I had reached one of the goals I set on the day I started boxing,” said the happy champion, now home in his beloved Chicago.
Two-time and current WBC Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk, a native of Warsaw, Poland, is making his way to Chicago this week in support of his countrymen, Andrzej Fonfara and Artur Szpilka, in their “Big Fight 2” appearances this Friday, August 16, at U.S. Cellular Field.
In a show of true patriotism, Wlodarczyk will be in attendance Friday night when “Chicago’s Polish Prince”, and fellow Warsaw native, IBO Light Heavyweight World Champion Andrzej Fonfara, battles former world champion Gabriel “EL Chico Guapo” Campillo of Madrid, Spain in a scheduled twelve rounder and when Wieliczka, Poland’s Artur ‘The Pin” Szpilka fights his highly anticipated rematch with Chicago’s “Merciless” Mike Mollo over ten rounds.
The Fonfara and Szpilka bouts will serve as the featured attractions at “THE BIG FIGHT 2,” a historic outdoor boxing event being held at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, and presented by “The Promoters”- Round 3 Productions, 8 Count Productions, Warriors Boxing and Ulrich KnockOut Promotions in association with the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. Both Polish fighters will also appear live on ESPN Friday Night Fights.
