Anthony Joshua wants to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. In order to make this dream – one he has had since he was a young kid – come true, Joshua must beat fellow unbeaten talent Tyson Fury (linear king and WBA, WBO ruler) and Deontay Wilder (the WBC boss). Technically, even this amazing feat would not make Joshua, who already holds the IBF belt, the sole claimant to the heavyweight throne, as we currently have two other men (Ruslan Chagaev and Luis Ortiz) holding a version of the WBA belt.

Has Dereck Chisora muscled his way into another big fight?
Dereck Chisora is no stranger to controversy and the Londoner is also, apparently, not lacking in reserves of energy. It was just over two weeks ago when “Del Boy” was comprehensively beaten on points by Kubrat Pulev in an unsuccessful challenge for the vacant European title (forget the split decision, this was a clear win for the Bulgarian) – despite this, yesterday, as fellow British big man Dillian Whyte attended a press conference to help promote his recent signing with the Matchroom stable, Chisora burst onto the scene and almost got into a physical fracas with “The Villain,” (or “The Bodysnatcher,” depending on Whyte’s current chosen nickname).

Scottish hero Ricky Burns, who has not enjoyed a high-profile win for some time now, has lost none of his self belief and ambition. The former 130 and 135-pound champion, now aged 33, gets a world title comeback opportunity this Saturday, against skilled Italian Michelle Di Rocco. The two will meet in Glasgow, for the WBA light-welterweight title that was stripped from the always-controversial Adrien Broner for failing to make weight before entering his fight with Ashley Theophane last time out.
Eddie Hearn: To tell you the truth, Haye is not on our radar
David Haye will have to wait a substantial amount of time for that crack at IBF heavyweight ruler, says A.J promoter Eddie Hearn. Haye has made no secret of the fact that he wants a fight with the unbeaten star, convinced as he is about two things: the fight would be an enormous event in the UK (check) and he would be able to beat Joshua, by KO (debatable). But Hearn, in speaking with The Mirror, said Haye “is not on our radar,” and that the fight would not take place until the summer of next year at the earliest.

If David Haye’s objective was to impress his celebrity friends in attendance at London’s O2 Arena, then Saturday night’s fanfare complete with bright, flashing laser-lights and thumping loud sound systems would have been just the tonic. The only ingredient missing was a fight. In amongst the It crowd assembled at ringside, spare a thought for any genuine fight fans who had paid good money to watch this debacle. If Haye cares about retaining his boxing credibility then he needs to stop treating real fans of the sport with such disdain.
Who looked better last night, Haye or Briggs – and who wins in September?
David Haye-Shannon Briggs, who wins? Go back a couple of months and no-one would have entertained such a question as anything other than a bad joke. Now? The impending collision is still nothing but a curiosity fight at best, a freak show at worst, but it cannot be denied how the two heavyweights with a combined 79 KO’s between them have created quite a buzz. Haye is still phenomenally popular, this despite the fact that he hasn’t fought a world-ranked foe since 2012. Briggs, since taking the George Foreman, keep-busy-against-low-level-opposition-and-get-the-fans-talking route back, has certainly attracted interest; with his mouth and with his fists.
Billy Joe Saunders launches scathing attack on Canelo Alvarez, calls him a “coward” he would “school”
WBO middleweight ruler Billy Joe Saunders has launched a scathing attack on Mexican star Saul Canelo Alvarez. As fans know, Alvarez recently vacated his WBC middleweight title rather than agree to fight Gennady Golovkin (at least he hasn’t agreed to face GGG yet). This has angered many fight fans, Mexican fight fans in particular of course, and Saunders, in speaking with boxingnews24, said Canelo should be ashamed of himself.
Haye stops Gjergjaj in 2nd round
David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) scored his second straight early knockout in his comeback in stopping fringe contender Arnold Gjergjaj (29-1, 21 KOs) in the 2nd round on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, England. Haye had the 31-year-old Gjergjaj up and down on the canvas like he was playing with a yoyo.
David Price to face Jakov Gospic on May 29th
Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price will face Jakov Gospic on the May 29th card in Liverpool that will be headlined by Tony Bellew-Ilunga Makabu for the vacant WBC cruiserweight title. This will, of course, be Price’s first fight back since being stopped inside two-rounds by Erkan Teper last July. Teper, like the only other man to have beaten Price, Tony Thompson, later failed a drugs test. Price is now convinced he can make it to the very top and that he was beaten only due to cheating on the part of Thompson and Teper.
Gospic, 17-14(12) was linked to Shannon Briggs at one point, with various reports suggesting the journeyman would face Briggs on tonight’s card at The O2 in London. Now Price gets the chance to ease himself back into action against the 33-year-old Croatian, with new trainer Dave Coldwell taking over as his head trainer. Price, a powerful puncher who looked for all the world like at least a world title challenger if not a world title winner before his three setbacks, told Sky Sports that he has no interest in going back over old ground at British level, instead aiming to show what he can do at the highest level.
Gennady Golovkin Vs. Chris Eubank: who wins – GGG or Simply The Best?

It’s not the most obvious “Dream Fight” that springs to mind when daydreaming on who would win out of today’s best middleweight, unified king Gennady Golovkin and great 160-pound fighters of yesteryear, but a GGG-Chris Eubank fight and how you think it would have gone is a pretty interesting notion all the same. Fans have thought about how Golovkin and his particular blend of skills would have done against the likes of a Marvin Hagler, a Carlos Monzon, a Bernard Hopkins (a fight that wasn’t too far from reality a while back!) and, dare we say it, a Sugar Ray Robinson (for the record, and for what it’s worth, I think GGG beats one of these guys, but only one) – but yesterday, Eubank, a former champ at 160 and 168, spoke about how he would have beaten Golovkin.
