Emmanuel Tagoe stops Robles in round 9 to win IBF International title

Game Boy wins in AmericaGhanaian, Emmanuel Tagoe silenced his critics with a round 9 technical knockout win over Gerardo Robles on Friday night to claim the IBF International Junior Lightweight belt and edge closer to a bid for world championship glory.

Tagoe, now 22-1, 9 KOs, was at his crafty best despite the resistance of the American at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Cabazon, California in his first fight in the United States before Robles threw in the towel in the 9th of the scheduled 12-rounder.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Aug. 3rd, 2013) – The bright lights of boxing’s biggest stage seem to suit Curtis “Showtime” Stevens just fine these days.

For the second time in his last three fights, the Brooklyn middleweight scored a first-round knockout on the NBC Sports Network’s Fight Night Series at Mohegan Sun – the first of three nationally-televised bouts – this time flattening Mexican challenger Saul Roman at the two-minute, 26-second mark of the opening round to capture the vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) title in the main event of Saturday’s “Three To See” card, co-promoted by Main Events and Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports.

Fortuna-Franco ends in draw; Cintron decisions Batista

In one of the poorer ESPN2 cards, undefeated featherweight contender Javier Fortuna (22-0-1, 16 KO’s) slapped and clinched his way to a 10 round draw against Luis Franco (11-1-1, 7 KO’s) on Friday night at the Buffalo Run Casino, in Miami, Oklahoma, USA. The southpaw Franco showed good speed and decent power, but he so wild, sloppy and wide on defense that he took away from the two things he had going for him. The judges scored it 99-91 for Franco, 96-94 for Fortuna and 95-95 even.
