Since that less than stellar performance against Eric Molina earlier this month, Alabama’s WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has taken a bit of a shellacking from all quarters, particularly from his fighting peers in the heavyweight division.
One man it seems more than any other, unbeaten Australian contender Lucas Browne, has been trading barbs with Wilder across social media as of late – the latest of the exchanges coming via a video Browne has released in relation to their ‘beef’.
“I want to talk about Mr. Deontay Wilder. The guy’s a WBC champ – well done, congratulations, you’ve got a well padded record and your promotional team have done really well.”
“You’ve got some power, don’t get me wrong. (But) You’re a tall and skinny bastard with chicken legs. That’s unreal. You’ve got some power but your chin is nothing whatsoever.”
Browne then took to his twitter and issued a picture of Wilder, in action, complete with super-imposed chicken legs to further illustrate his point.
In the video, clearly under no illusions, he added;
“I’m a puncher. I’m not saying I’m the best boxer in the world by any rate. I understand this. I know what I am and I don’t try and sugar coat it for the rest of the world. I hit like a mule and I know for a fact if I hit you on the chin, you are going to sleep.”
And Browne has clearly thought about the best way to beat Deontay, as well as witness the American’s oft referred limitations for himself;
“I’ve got a good chin and I can take your shots all day. Your left hook, your straight right. That’s all you’ve got. Over and over again. I’ll take it. Then I’ll punish the body, then I take your head off your shoulders.”
“Let’s do it. The boy from Australia who wants to make his mark on the world. Of course I want the opportunity and of course I want the payday. What idiot wouldn’t want those things?”
“I’m 36 years old. I know I can knock you out. Let’s see if you’ve got the balls to bring it.”
