Ghana’s Emmanuel Quartey is promising to win the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight belt when he faces current title holder, Gamal Yafai in the UK on December 3 in a show billed to be screened live on Sky Sports.

The tough fighting Quartey who has knocked out 19 of the 20 opponents he has beaten in 22 career fights failed to travel to the US for a purported WBA International title fight against Mexico’s Hanzel Martinez last month due to circumstances beyond the boxer’s control, but the Ghanaian has quickly shifted focus to December’s bout in Manchester and is so confident of victory he is even predicting a knockout against the undefeated Yafai (10-0, 4 KOs).

“This is a big opportunity for my career, a chance to announce myself to the world and get close to the ultimate dream of becoming a world champion. I will take it with both hands, I promise my fans that I will return to Accra with the Commonwealth title,” said Quartey famously nicknamed Akufo Addo.

“I am always ready, I was already training for the US fight so I’m ready and promise my fans a big win. In fact, I am going for a knockout, I don’t think he will go past 6 rounds and all I ask of Ghanaians is to back me with their prayers and I will bring the title,” Quartey added.

Emmanuel Quartey versus Gamal Yafai for the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight title is the main event promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport set to air live on Sky Sports on Saturday December 3, 2016.
