Tagoe vrs POtillas posterBy Prince Dornu-Leiku – World title chasing Emmanuel Tagoe AKA Game Boy makes a return to the ring on April 20 when he fights Filipino, Ronald Pontillas in Accra for the vacant WBO Africa Junior Lightweight (a title Tagoe once held) and vacant WBA International Junior Lightweight belts live on Supersport.

The flamboyant Ghanaian showman will be fighting for the first time under the wing of BabyJet Promotions since signing a 3-year management and promotional deal with the syndicate owned by Ghana national soccer team captain, Asamoah Gyan.

BabyJet Promotions have already outlined comprehensive plans to get Tagoe (20-1, 8 KOs) to world championship glory next year and the fight against 23 year old Pontillas from Philippines is the first of many intended to keep the Ghanaian in shape and improving.

BabyJet Promotions CEO, Sammy Anim-Addo also reveals that in line with their avowed dream to bring innovation into Ghanaian boxing, BabyJet which pulled the biggest ever crowd to a Ghanaian fight night with their debut bill last November, will this time have the Tagoe versus Pontillas bout screened live throughout Africa and many other parts of the world via Supersport on DSTV.

According to Ghanaian media sources, the boxer has vowed to pay back his new managers for their faith and generousity, promising boxing fans to troop to the Accra Sports Stadium in their numbers on the night of April 20 to watch a very exciting bout.

“Game Boy is keen to show his appreciation to Asamoah Gyan and his brother, Baffour for what they have done to turn around his career and life. He is very determined to put on a good show in the next fight. Since knowing the opponent, he has not stopped training, he can’t wait for the fight,” a source close to the boxer told the Ghana based website www.sportsinghana.com.
