Results: Bivol destroys Broadhurst; Kabayel & Quigg win

WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (12-0, 10 KOs) looked great in smashing Trent Broadhurst (20-2, 12 KOs) by a 1st round knockout on Saturday night in the Russian fighter’s first defense of his title at the Salle Medecin in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Televised by HBO Boxing, Bivol landed a straight right hand to the chin of Broadhurst in the finals seconds of round 1 to score a 1st round knockout. A bleeding a badly hurt Broadhurst stayed down on his back a long time before he finally got back to his feet.

Dereck Chisora believes ripping the European Heavyweight title from Agit Kabayel on Saturday night will catapult him back into the World title mix as they clash in Monte-Carlo, live on Sky Sports.

‘Del Boy’ can become a two-time Euro king by taking the strap from the unbeaten German in his first defence, and the Londoner feels that will land him the mega-fights he wants – starting with a rematch with capital rival Dillian Whyte following their epic battle in December.

Dillian Whyte-Dereck Chisora II: The perfect fight for the October 28 Joshua-Pulev under-card?

Promoter Eddie Hearn wants it, recently stating how it “has to happen,” the fans sure want it, due to how great the first fight was, and it seems we could perhaps see a return battle between British heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora – and wouldn’t it be great if we saw it take place on the under-card of the upcoming October 28 fight between heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev?

Helenius ready for Chisora rematch: ‘’You will see Robert 2.0 in the ring!’’

Robert Helenius (24-1, 15 KOs) looked in great shape as he met with the Finnish media today in Helsinki at an open training session ahead of his WBC Silver World Heavyweight title fight against Dereck Chisora (26-7, 18 KOs) on May 27 at the Hartwall Arena.

The 33 year-old from Porvoo holds a controversial points victory over his British rival from their all action showdown in December 2011, but having enhanced his training methods, which today included pounding a heavy bag with a picture of Chisora’s face attached, ‘The Nordic Nightmare’ believes, this time, the decision will be left in no doubt.

Dereck Chisora-Robert Helenius rematch will be official eliminator; but is either fighter capable of giving Wilder a beating?

As fight fans may have read by now, British heavyweight warrior Dereck Chisora will travel to Finland for a rematch with Robert Helenius on May 27 (the month of May really looking like a great month for boxing, what with the heavyweight battle added to big fights including Canelo-Chavez and Brook-Spence).

A good, solid fight, one that will be a sequel to the controversial points win Helenius picked up in 2011 (British promoter Frank Warren calling the decision one of the worst he had ever seen at the time), Helenius-Chisora II could well prove entertaining. But, as an official WBC eliminator, the question has to be asked: is either Chisora, 26-7(18) or Helenius, 24-1(15) capable of defeating Deontay Wilder, or even of giving the reigning WBC king a tough fight?

Dillian Whyte, Dereck Chisora heading in separate directions: Whyte-Ortiz and Chisora-Helenius II?

It seems fans who were hoping to see an immediate return meeting between intense British heavyweight rivals Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora will be disappointed. For although a rematch of the terrific 12 round battle the two engaged in back in December will always be a possibility, the two contenders have separate bouts in the pipeline.

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, Whyte, who aims to get himself in line for a world title shot this year, could face Cuban southpaw Luis Ortiz soon. Speaking with Sky Sports, the Matchroom boss laid out the plans for the once-beaten Whyte.

It’s been just over two months since the brutally entertaining British heavyweight slugfest between bitter rivals Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora, and fans are eager to see what the two warriors do next; whether they will meet in a return fight or go a different route.
