Like him and his fighting style or not, there is one thing Cuban stylist Guillermo Rigondeaux could never be referred to as, and that’s a “ducker” or a “cherry picker.” This much is clear from the very fact that the former super-bantamweight champ has agreed to move up not one but two weight divisions to challenge WBO super-featherweight ruler Vasyl Lomachenko on December 9.

Manny Pacquiao-Conor McGregor: Is Pac Man the latest star boxer to want a piece of the action?
“All roads leads to Mayweather,” the great Floyd “Money” Mayweather once said. But now, in light of the financial blockbuster that was Mayweather-Conor McGregor, you know, the most financially successful crossover fight of all-time, it seems all roads lead to McGregor: AKA “The Notorious.”
Is David Haye the most underachieving two-weight world champion in recent memory?
This great sport, which we all love greatly, is filled with examples of hugely talented fighters who never quite achieved all that was expected of them; all they were capable of. Names like Gerry Cooney and David Tua often emerge, from the heavyweight ranks, when it comes to exciting, powerful and talented warriors who failed to get where they were going: all the way to the top.
Hearn keen on promoting Tyson Fury-Tony Bellew if Fury gets license; says Bellew feels he can win
Though Tony Bellew is set to wait for David Haye to heal up and be ready to fight their return bout next March (postponed as the original Dec 17 date was due to an arm injury picked up by Haye) the Liverpool warrior is also thinking seriously about taking a fight with Tyson Fury.
James Toney arrives in UK for “exhibition bout,” gives his take on Joshua and Wilder
All-time great James Toney has seen it all, done it all and he’s fought ’em all, yet he’s still trying to keep on keeping on. Here in the UK on business – Toney will fight 2-0 light-heavyweight Sam Pomphrey in Bristol on Saturday night in what is either an exhibition bout or a white collar fight, depending on the way things go ahead on Saturday – and Sky Sports caught up with him.
Billy Joe Saunders says he’ll beat David Lemieux so convincingly “they won’t be able to rob me”
Reigning WBO middleweight champ Billy Joe Saunders deserves credit for facing the dangerously hard-hitting David Lemieux next month; but the unbeaten southpaw deserves even more credit for agreeing to face the former IBF champ in Canada. And while BJS is convinced he has the beating of Lemieux, the notion of his being robbed if the fight goes down to the wire and is at all close has crossed his mind.
As Cotto approaches retirement, Freddie Roach suggests Manny Pacquiao joins him
As fight fans know, the great Miguel Cotto – arguably THE greatest Puerto Rican fighter in history – is just one fight away from retirement. Cotto will face Sadam Ali on December 2 and then, that’s it the four-weight king has said many times. Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach feels the timing is just about perfect and, as quoted by fighthype.com, he feels his other star fighter Manny Pacquiao might want to follow Cotto’s lead and retire also.
Danny Jacobs: 100-percent I win the rematch with GGG
Former WBA middleweight ruler Danny Jacobs still believes, and he is still hoping. “The Miracle Man” fully believes he executed the perfect game-plan when he boxed world champ Gennady Golovkin back in March and that the 12 round decision that went to GGG should have gone to him – or, worst case scenario, the fight was a draw.
Jacobs, 33-2(29) in speaking with Premiere Boxing Champions, as quoted by RingTV.com, said he is absolutely certain he wins the rematch with the unbeaten Triple-G if there is one.
Tyson Fury wastes no time in calling out Bellew after Haye return is called off
Tyson Fury has wasted zero time in calling out Tony Bellew. In light of how the December 17 return bout between “Bomber” Bellew and David Haye has been called off due to (yet another) injury suffered by Haye (it’s his arm, actually his bicep, this time for those fans who are keeping tab of the body parts Haye has suffered injury to during his amateur and pro career), Fury has offered his considerable services for the new date that is being worked on: May 5.
David Haye has pulled out of Tony Bellew return; Haye suffers arm injury
Just days after being assured by all concerned that David Haye is “100-percent and ready to go” into his December 17 rematch with Tony Bellew, we get another report that says Haye is indeed injured and that the fight is OFF.
As per a man with all the news – almost all of it reliable – Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reports how “a source with direct knowledge of the situation” informs how Haye has pulled out with an arm injury. The ESPN report says Haye is set to undergo surgery on his arm soon.
