Keith Thurman wants to fight the best and give the fans what they want to see; ditto Shawn Porter. And when the two welterweight stars faced one another in June of last year, we witnessed a classic. Ever since the close decision that was awarded to Thurman, fans have craved a rematch.

Artur Beterbiev: The lethal puncher nobody wants to fight? Barrera fight off
Gennady Golovkin? Guillermo Rigondeaux? Artur Beterbiev? Just who is the most avoided fighter in the world today?
In light of the breaking news story that tells us how the scheduled, hoped for, IBF final elimination bout between 175-pounders Beterbiev and Sullivan Barrera is now off, we can only assume it’s probably the latter.
Tony Bellew says a fight between he and Tyson Fury “can happen”
Tony Bellew really did open up the possibility of all manner of big heavyweight fights for himself with his shock win over David Haye. We’ve heard talk of a possible title shot, against heavyweight champs Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker and now, believe it or not – a Bellew-Tyson Fury fight is being suggested.
Thurman-Garcia II? Angel takes a U-Turn, says the rematch with “Ponytail” will happen
Do fans really want to see a return meeting between welterweight stars Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia? In truth, the clash the two unbeaten warriors engaged in this past Saturday was no classic – it was no dud, but at the same time, it was no Leonard-Hearns.
And after the split decision went “One Time’s” way, Angel Garcia, trainer and of course pop of Danny, said he was “disgusted” with both the official verdict that saw his son lose his WBC belt and unbeaten record, and the sport of boxing itself. Angel, in his own inimitable way, said he wanted Danny to call it quits and retire. No-one really believed the once-beaten Philly talent would actually hang ’em up, and now, via a video Angel has posted (big thanks to Bad Left Hook) Garcia Snr has claimed revenge will be exacted in a return bout.
Pacquiao-Khan fight “dead” says Bob Arum; but reports say Khan is still hopeful of landing the fight
Well, we can’t say promoter Bob Arum didn’t warn us. The Top Rank boss was always more than a little bit sceptical over the talked of $38 million super-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan actually taking place. Both fighters announced the fight on twitter as a done deal, with the fight set for April, then May 20, at a location to be determined; most likely in the UAE.
Once untouchable, “Sugar” Shane Mosley fights on, will face unbeaten Russian contender Magomed Kurbanov in May
Roy Jones Junior is not the only once great boxing master refusing to call it quits. Former three-weight king “Sugar” Shane Mosley, a fighter cut from similar cloth to the great the Jones, has another fight scheduled at age 45. Last seen dropping a decision to David Avanesyan in May of last year, Mosley, 49-10-1(41) is scheduled to face 10-0 Russian prospect/contender Magomed Kurbanov in Ekaterinburg on May 5th.
Haye says he’s far from finished; suggests Bellew trilogy could be up there with the likes of Gatti-Ward, Ali-Frazier
Although he suffered a major injury in his losing fight with Tony Bellew, David Haye is not talking like a man who is resigned to retirement. Haye, who had to take many months off after undergoing a 2012 career-threatening shoulder op, has now undergone surgery on his torn Achilles tear. But although Haye, 36, seems to be a fighter who has a career in tatters, he insists he will still “carry on my path to become No 1 in the world.”
Does Tony Bellew deserve a shot at WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder? As much as any other contender, says DiBella
Tony Bellew, with his big upset stoppage win over David Haye sure caused massive ripples in the heavyweight division. Now being looked at by two of the reigning world heavyweight champs as a realistic and legit challenger, “Bomber” could be on the verge of landing himself a shot at either the WBC or the WBO crown.
WBO ruler Joseph Parker is interested in a lucrative fight with Bellew, and WBC king Deontay Wilder is also not ruling it out. It’s probable, highly so, that both unbeaten heavyweights feel Bellew would be relatively easy picking, with the big payday attached to the fight too big to pass up. But Haye badly underestimated Bellew and we all saw what happened there.
Tyson Fury aims for May 13 ring return – who should the unbeaten giant face?
There is no venue, there is no opponent and there is no guarantee, but unbeaten former unified heavyweight king Tyson Fury yesterday tweeted how he will be returning to ring action on May 13, and that he is working with promoter Frank Warren on who his opponent might be.
Fury, the most controversial and highly publicised heavyweight boxer since Mike Tyson, has been through everything since beating Wladimir Klitschko in November of 2015 – including depression, a drugs habit, weight problems and a complete lack of desire to train – but he has announced his date of intention as far as his ring return.
Does Angel Garcia really want Danny to retire?
As fans know, Danny Garcia lost both his WBC welterweight title and his unbeaten record on Saturday night in New York, when he was beaten by Keith Thurman via 12 round split decision. And while most people had no argument with the decision going Thurman’s way, Angel Garcia, Danny’s father and head trainer, told the media at the post fight presser that he is “disgusted with the decision” and that he is “disgusted with boxing right now.”
