I have a different slant than most of you on the upcoming fight between Geale and Mundine. In the first fight, Mundine tried to brawl with Geale instead of boxing him. In doing this, he wasted alot of punches. Moreover, more often than not, Mundine tried to counterpunch Geale rather than getting off first. When he did jab first, he set the tempo for the exchanges and almost always got the better of them. When Geale got off first, Mundine looked vulnerable.
Therefore, if Mundine boxes, is more selective with his offense and gets off first, I see him winning again. By being first to the punch he puts Geale’s attack off kilter by upsetting his timing, whilst utilizing his own superior hand speed. Mundine is a better athlete than Geale, as proven by being a World Champion in two different sports, Boxing & Rugby. Only one other Australian has achieved this distinction, Heather McKay. This puts him in elite company with Bo Jackson and Babe Zacharias, although I believe the Babe was a Champion in 3 different sports! Incredible! In terms of style, Mundine has a little bit of Ali, a little bit of Roy Jones and a little bit of Sugar Ray Leonard in his repertoire. I’m afraid this combination will be to much for Geale, even if Mundine is not the fighter he was a few years ago.

Ok then who else has gone to other countries and won two legit belts .give me a minute I’m trying make more excuses and discredit him,yeh he can’t box he beat Saturm in Germany and that other average belt holder Sylvester in Germany can’t seem to remember anyone else to do so,sorry I’ve got know idea he’s not a good boxer cause the blokes he beat where bums too…

The Real Deal

You guys aren’t too bright. Geale fights and beats Mundine. He gets more money, redemption for the only, and a controversial ‘L’ on his record. After claiming 2 titles in Germany can fight at home in Australia. Then he still has all year to bust the myth that is GGG and take on Martinez for all the marbles. Wake up idiots.

Golovkin is far from being a hype-job. He is knocking everyone out in his path.

Unfortunately, the article lost all credibility when it described Geale as one of the best fighters of all time. And it’s asterisk, not asterix.

Daniel geale is at the very least a champion,a champion who always has time for the youth involved in boxing , only aweek ago he found time to talk to my 14 year old mys sons forthcoming australian titles.we l might add live in canberra and are not from his gym.a champion shows his worth in and out of the ring.l for one think daniel is one of the greatest

Apparently idiots write this garbage. Daniel Geale is NOT one of the greatest fighters of all time, the present, or the future lol so so comical. This guy couldn’t beat Martinez, Chavez Jr., Quillen, Macklin, or any other formadible middlewieght. Sugar Ray Robinson is rolling over in his grave right now thanks to this moronic statement. This is the kind of crap that makes me go back to

I think he meant to say that Geale is one of the greatest Tasmanian fighters of all time?

It’s an australian article about australian boxers by (probably) an australian journalist so yes maybe “Daniel Geale is one of the greatest fighters of all time”, from an australian perspective …

If you’re going to say “Daniel Geale is one of the greatest fighters of all time” then say it at the END of the article, that way most people will have read what you have to say before they start laughing and hit the back button. I wouldn’t even put him as the greatest fighter called Daniel of all time

Geale one of the greatest fighters of all time?

Actually, Geale was stripped of his WBA title because Sturm dodged Golovkin for 2 years. Geale became the WBA fall-guy for a GGG hype-job. Mundine never “won” any legit titles. He was given the WBA title after ‘Super Champ’ Sven Ottke retired. There were many controversial actions in the Geale/Mundine fight that all went Mundines way and he still could only scrape through for a SD. While this article leaves a lot to be desired, I think Frank might need to get his facts straight.

A number of problems here. Geale is not one of the best fighters of all time. Geale was stripped of the title because he didn’t want to fight his mandatory Golovkin. Mundine has won legit titles, last I checked the WBA title is legit. Saying you have to take the title from the champ is a cop-out in boxing, particularly when said title is not one of the four meaningful belts. That is IBO title is not recognised. All in all, get your facts straight before you write an article.

Hey, that’s my Bike!!!

I am a big fan of Geale, but even I hope that was a typo and should be “one of the greatest Australian fighters of all time”. However for the misinformed, the only MW that Geale would have a problem with is Martinez. Geale would smoke the hype job Golovkin. The rest are nowhere near as smart, skillful or busy in the ring as Geale. After he demolishes Mundine, he will come after his WBA belt again and then we will see if Golovkin has what it takes. By the end of 2013, Geale will be the undisputed MW champ or will have lost it all to Martinez. Mundine – Golovkin – Martinez.

No disrespect to Geale, but he is not even in the top twenty MW of the 2000s, let alone all time.
