The fact that he’s undefeated after all these years proves it.

Floyd Sr. using the shoulder roll was pretty much like Berto: ineffective. But Jr. is a lot faster and much, much more intelligent than his father.

No. If Canelo loses nobody makes excuses. BUT if Floyd losses expect a 1000 excuses.

Floyd Mayweather Sr also lost to Clayton Hires… A guy who was losing one Hell of a lot of fights to guys you never heard of.

Floyd Jr is the only real fighter in the family. The other Mayweathers couldn’t defend themselves. Maybe that’s why Floyd Sr stressed defense.. defense.. defense.. defense.. and defense to his son.

Obviously a good offense keeps opponents wary and helps your defense, so Sr taught Jr that too… Floyd Sr became a 100 times better trainer than he ever was a fighter.

Floyd Sr. has more fights of him other than the SRL one. The speed of his hands were incredible

You always go with a proven fighter that has been there before. Mayweather has fought the tougher opponents albeit smaller, older and less skilled than Canelo, but he has been there. The only way Floyd losses this fight is if one of the following things happen:
1. Floyd gets old over night 2. Floyd comes into the fight sick, unhealthy 3. Canelo puts it all together and rises to the occasion by applying constant pressure for 12 rounds, doesn’t run out of gas, uses his jab. and makes his extra weight to his advantage 4. The powers that be want to make a ton of money and have a rematch set up. Canelo has made progress. He looks great in sparring and throws good combinations, but he is going to have a tough time catching Floyd if he decides to hit once or twice, hold, hug and run or move as some say. His extremely defensive style will have fans bored to death, throwing beers in the ring and leaving the arena. This fight IMO will be a huge let down if Floyd plays his usual, fearful cat and mouse game. The only one that can change that is Canelo himself. He talks good, seems very confident, is built solid, young, fast and motivation in front of a largely Mexican crowd should not be a problem. It’s all in Canelo’s hands. If he wants to be great, this is his opportunity to make his destiny. He can be on top of the boxing world with a win. I’m pulling for Canelo, but I’m not sure he can pull it off. We’ll have to see.

Problem is if Floyd wins which I believe he will, everybody will start saying that Canelo was not ready even though he has 40 something fights. Or Canelo wasn’t all that to begin with and Floyd cherry picked him. Ill take Floyd by late round stoppage due to Canelos stamina issues

This will arguably be the toughest test of Mayweather’s career. Canelo presents aspects of Mayweather’s toughest opponents to date…shades of Castillo, DLH, and Cotto are in his game right now. I wont go as far to say that Canelo is better right now than those three at the time that Mayweather fought them, but the similarities are definitely there. Canelo has gotta remember that Mayweather is always playing chess, not checkers. This will be a great fight!
