@seani- lol relax guy

david Haye would use arreola as a punch bag if they fought, Mitchell can beat the Doughboy.

@Tark- lol yeah, that potent punch is gonna have to be a loaded one for CA’s chin. KO round 2

Posted August 16, 2013 7:06 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

Seth leaves his chin out all night long which is excellent for catching those big hooks that the heavyweights carry. His dedication is great, but he is too old to learn the sport from the ground up. His lack of skills will show as he gets blasted out of the ring a few more times…

Posted August 16, 2013 4:15 pm

Squared Circle…. The thing I like about Mitchell is his work ethic.. He came late to the game and is trying really hard.. He makes a lot of mistakes, can’t clinch well, and doesn’t defend real well.. I don’t think he’s getting the greatest training or coaching.

But he’s a better boxer than Arreola, so his only chance to to make a boxing match out of it… He does carry a potent punch… If he hits Chris real good he will take him out … and vice versa.

Arreola WILL knock out Seth Mitchell in the first round!

The D R — It’s obvious to me that you know what you’re talking about so this comment wasn’t intended for you. It was intended for osy.

deLima…Arreola doesn’t lack motivation! It doesn’t take years to get in shape…only a few month!

Posted August 12, 2013 5:05 am

BTW if you’re right and he really is in fighting shape then it’s great.

Posted August 15, 2013 3:07 pm

The D R

@de Lima- that goes without saying given that we’re speaking about boxing. In shape=in fight shape.

Posted August 15, 2013 2:37 pm

Arreola will knock out Mitchell in the first round.

Being just in shape is not enough — you need to make sure you’re in FIGHTING shape if you want to use all your boxing skills!
You have to stay fit all year round and to be already in great shape
when you arrive at the training camp.
It’s all a matter of discipline.

The D R

@tark-btw, CA style isn’t a boxer. That can definitely work against him but that’s not how he fights. An in shape Chris won’t let someone run away the whole fight. Thus, when he comes in shape SEPT 6th, it isn’t going to matter how much Seth boxes. Sooner or later, that weak as chin is gonna get clipped; and we all know it doesn’t take much to get some birdies churpin around that football helmet of Seths.

@Tark-you think you know, but you know idea. What you see as a boxing fan is as far as it goes, and that’s ok. But, like I said, wait till Chris puts Seth asleep, and then gets ahold of. Bermane again. Much respect to Bermane. Fortunately, Chris getting his ass beat was exactly what he needed. Btw, his camp can only be there for for Chris, they can’t force him to do what they say or need him to do. Have a little more of an open mind will ya. Are you a fighter or trainer btw?

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

TARK: Just out of curiosity, what do you see in Seth Mitchell that looks so impressive? Like a Linebacker he’s thick, muscular and hits hard (when he lands) but that’s about it.

IMO…. his weaknesses far outweigh his strengths at this point. Did you by chance see both Mitchell vs. Banks fights? Or are you just looking at this on upcoming fight with Arreola on paper?

Posted August 15, 2013 3:52 am

Arreola wins!!!!

Posted August 15, 2013 3:50 am

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Arreola weighed in at 247lbs in his last fight, which was still lighter than what Stiverne weighed in at. Stiverne may not look quite as blubbery, but he’s a definitely a fat-boy as well. So I wouldn’t doubt if Stiverne was walking around at 260-270lbs before he started training camp. And at only 6’2″ he’ll get smashed by both Klitschkos.

This is a MUST WIN fight for Cristobal, so I see him weighing in at the high 230’s to low 240s for this one. He’s got a real solid chin and big heart, that’s for sure. But he has the wrong body type and is lacking speed and natural athletic ability, so he’ll never be a great boxer.

Posted August 15, 2013 3:47 am

It doesn’t make a difference what Chris Arreola weighes… Whatever he weighs he still can’t box.. How good a boxer is Stiverne??? Good enough to pummel Chris, break his nose, and beat him up something fierce.

Now Mitchell doesn’t have any amateur experience to speak of… But can he box better than Arreola??? His trainer and team sure believes he can. If Seth can make and keep it a boxing match … he’ll win.

Posted August 15, 2013 2:42 am

The D R

@turbo-hamster-tell you what, if he doesn’t come in weighing in the 230’s for this fight, I’ll give you my tickets for the SEPT 14th fight.

Posted August 15, 2013 2:23 am

@ gumboot: Brilliant simile my friend. To quote another great 60’s group/song, Arreola will beat Mitchell up so badly, that Mitchell will cry “96 Tears.”

Posted August 15, 2013 1:57 am

@ Turbo Hamster- I just can’t see Mitchell producing anything that would keep Arreola off of him, which is why I still predict Arreola knocks Mitchell out in round 1. Arreola does need to get down to about 235, because like you said, he IS spherical.

Posted August 15, 2013 1:56 am

CA by KO and for Seth, to quote The Doors…this is the end!

Posted August 15, 2013 1:15 am

Arreola will walk through any boxing Seth tries, then Seths gameplan goes out the window. Arreola will take Seth out in 5.

Posted August 14, 2013 11:06 pm

Arreola will knock Seth Mitchell out in the first round.

Posted August 14, 2013 10:47 pm

There is only one shape Arreola turns up to any fight in – spherical.

He`s been comprehensively outboxed 3 times now, and displayed no improvement in any of the fights.

I think he might actually be bad enough for Seth Mitchell, soft touch or not, to decision him.

Posted August 14, 2013 10:19 pm

The D R

@Tark-CA is coming in shape for this fight my man. Believe that!

Posted August 14, 2013 7:29 pm

Eric_Suede.., You’re probably right… I think it’s an interesting gamble that the Mitchell team is taking here.. Seth was a football player for all of his formative years and came to Boxing extremely late.

Unless he’s going to be another Sergio Martinez — and fight past the age of 38 at a very high level — Seth has to get going NOW!!!

I wouldn’t do it.. I don’t believe in pushing it.. To me, even if you start boxing when you’re 31–you may not be boxing anyone with skills until you’re 38 years old… Skills are even more important than age to me, so you train very patiently until your master the game.

But in Seth’s case the gambit might work.. Chris is a pretty bad boxer.

Arreola by Ko.
Tark, Adamek was on his bicycle the entire fight with Chris. He practically Ran. I really don’t think Mitchell has it in him. he can’t completely change his style in one training camp. Not going to happen. He’ll attempt to box but chris will cut off the ring and at some point he’ll have to fight him. Arreola has an iron chin so …. Hell even in the 2nd jonathan banks fight , banks had mitchell hurt one too many times. imagine what will happen when chris lands. I mean on one hand I get the logic of trying to catch Arreola on the downside of his career as he is still a name in the HW division but I think he’s done a david price. Bit off more than he can Chew again I have to go with Arreola on this one.

Posted August 14, 2013 4:33 pm

Vitali Klitschko stopped both Arreola and Adamek after beating the crap out of them for 10 rounds or so.

Vitali was 38 and 40 years old respectively when he beat these tyros.

Adamek got knocked down a few times.. Arreola didn’t.. But that only showed Arreola has a better chin than Adamek — not that he was a better boxer.

Arreola expected to run over the tiny Adamek but got out-boxed by a clear margin.. It was Foreman vs Young all over again.. All Tomasz had to do was keep popping Chris in his big, wide, tempting face.

The Mitchell team picked up on that… “Let’s box this cat’s ears off.”

Posted August 14, 2013 4:10 pm

Yep, Taking Arreola by KO early. This fight won’t go 4 rounds.

Agree with Stefano arrello will KO Mitchell even if damaged goods

Fears, I agree. I’m sure even the first beating from Vasquez will have lasting effects on his health much less the subsequent ones he took. Great warrior…

Even if Arreola is damaged goods and comes out of shape and overweight he will win by KO.

Posted August 14, 2013 12:54 pm

Mr Gav

Great fan friendly fight ( whilst it lasts) Mitchell and arello. Mitchell has a glass jaw and limited experience and arrello could be damaged goods! But what’s the point in this fight or any heavy weight fight when the WBC are allowing vitali to keep his title even though he can’t or won’t defend it against the true number one contender. And waldmir when he beats ap will most probably fight the winner of haye and fury (haye inside 3 rounds) even though its not a number one contenders match?? Bull s***

Why is Rafael Marquez still fighting???

Posted August 14, 2013 10:42 am

I was a big Raphael Marquez fan, but after the 4 wars with Vasquez and the beating by Juanma, I only wanted to see him retire.
