Donaire looks soo pitiful in the picture.

Posted July 19, 2013 12:11 pm

It’s amazing that Donaire has already won 4 World Titles in 4 weight divisions… He can move up at least 3 mrore because he’s as big as Mikey Garcia.

…insanity;if Donaire manages to loose that much weight in an effort to make 122 he could lose to Darchinyan…stupid move!!

Fight Aficionado

Good luck with that. Donaire said on the FNF he was currently 145 without any flab. How the hell is he going to drop 23 lbs? That’s like 17% of his body weight.

Fears I agree bud, Mares breaks down Donaire and busts him up bad, nut shots or no.

Posted July 15, 2013 4:27 pm

never liked vic though so i do hope the flash put his lights out again..yuup!

Correctomundo-You must’ve forgotten Mares does have a defensive masterplan that he loves to employ on taller fighters, it’s called the Ballbreaker Defense! No man can stand up to it yet! Lol.

Posted July 15, 2013 2:18 pm

Mares won’t beat Donaire. He’s not a Defensive WIZARD like Rigo. Therefore he will get caught by the FIREPOWER and get knocked out or saved by the Ref. Its EASY to see.

I’m also with the majority that believes Mares beats Donaire, but I would also like to see Donaire mix it up with rough brawling wild-man Salido. Salido would give Donaire a good “gut-check” to show us where his heart is after that ego-killing beatdown he suffered against Rigo.

There is absolutely no reason for Donaire to stay at 122. I’ve never liked the idea of fighters killing themselves to make weight just so they can rehydrate to the benefit of having a huge size advantage of naturally smaller fighters. A few examples of fighters that employ this tactic are: Chavez Jr., Donaire, Broner, Khan, and now add Garcia to that list. Canelo uses a different tactic. Jr. Middleweight is the correct division for him, but he gains his size advantage by just fighting Welters and Jr. Welters, and I guess that is a little worse.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

I’d probably take Mares over Donaire as well, however, I don’t know how likely it is that match-up will be made anytime soon.

Mares is the current WBC Super Featherweight (130lbs) and one of the current Featherweight Champions (126lbs). Donaire has NEVER competed at a weight above 122lbs. (Even though he has gained a lot of weight after that crushing loss to Rigo.)

I think we’re more likely to see a fight with Mares vs. Mikey Garcia than a bout featuring Mares vs. Donaire. And it looks like we might not see Garcia vs. Donaire — even when he moves up to FW. I bet that Donaire will first get matched against Chris John, Nicholas Walters or even Gradovich at 126lbs for one of the FW titles. Real talk.

Go VIC!!!!!!!!!! Get rid of this poser.

i lost a lil respect for my man the flash and company…yuup!

Nobody Is in Donaire’s Class

Remember Donaire saying how nobody was in his class. Rigo didn’t belong in the ring with him? Now he’s fighting Darchinyan who almost left boxing for MMA? Funny how times have changed. Mares beats Donaire’s ass bad.

Posted July 15, 2013 1:26 am

Ok. Well Donaire really doesn’t impress me. He did in his KO of Vic and Montiel but everybody else was a fight to make him look good. Mares has a much better record than he does. I’d like to see Rigo and Mares square up but we already know that is not happening

Posted July 15, 2013 1:10 am

You can forget about any rematch at all,we all know now that RIGO is not welcome on HBO, I do this the Victor rematch is like 4 years or so to late sort of like fenech Nelson 3 who cares and who needs it, Give Donaire his confidence builder and then bring on the tough fights-peace

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

PEEJ: Yeah… that is correct for the most part. But Donaire was born in the Phillipines and moved to Cali when he was a little kid. He’s definitely an American, but still has dual citizenship due to legal birthright.

Most of these Brits and Euros don’t know that he’s an American. They think he’s just like PacMan, even though he speaks perfect English with a West Coast accent.

Funny but I think Donaire is American. Wasn’t he born in Cali? I could be wrong. But it does not matter what he is, his record is just smoke. Mares record is real

Donaire got away with a lucky punch all those years ago against Darchinyan and always ran from a rematch. Looks like he is still making excuses to run away.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Just watched an interview with Donaire on FNF and he said that he’s walking around at 145lbs. Wow… this dude was fighting at 118lbs just a couple years ago. I don’t think it’s going to be easy for him to make 122lbs. And going back down to BW is probably totally out of the question at this point.

MAres MAres MAres ….

Posted July 14, 2013 7:35 pm

Donaire is a bum

Instead of taking on Santa Cruz, Mares, Moren he fights way past his prime Darchinyan. What a true self-proclaimed warrior Donaire is.

Posted July 14, 2013 7:21 pm

Tomato Can

Donaire already lost to Rigo, give him a break he doesn’t have fight Rigo again right off the bat. As a matter of fact, he doesn’t have to fight Rigo again, if he doesn’t want to. It isn’t as if that fight was all that close anyway.

Posted July 14, 2013 7:14 pm

Strange that Donaire would be the one dropping weight and chasing a rematch of a KO from years ago. Arum must really have no options for the poor guy. It’s pretty sad to see someone so talented only able to fight when the other guy brings the fans. If he was American he’d be the p4p #1 and on ppv only

Posted July 14, 2013 6:14 pm

Donaire already SAID that he wanted to Rematch Rigo. SO its the SISSYFIED people around him that’s telling him to go in another direction. Similar to Froch saying he wanted to Rematch Ward… The SISSYFIED people in his camp got him to change his TUNE.

Posted July 14, 2013 5:12 pm

And he started losing fans when he came out with those lame excuses after losing against Rigo

Posted July 14, 2013 4:34 pm

Martinez is always needing a tune up fight. Damn near every fight is a tune up fight.

Posted July 14, 2013 4:33 pm

Some fighters need a tune up fight for example sergio martinez he’s been injured so yeah a tune up should be made before fighting ggg or kid chocolate but donaire should rematch rigo asap if anything he’s losing fans by not doing it he needs to stop being a beetch and fight rigo

Posted July 14, 2013 4:23 pm

Rematch RIGO!!!!ANd No MOre EXCUSE!!!

Posted July 14, 2013 3:11 pm

Big Al

I love Vic to death, man. Who else could win and lose so many times and always be invited back to put on another show? Very few. But a rematch with Donaire makes no sense. How about Darchinyan-Montiel or Darchinyan-VazquezJr? And let Donaire rematch Rigond or move up?

Posted July 14, 2013 1:02 pm

this guy WHAck!!

Posted July 14, 2013 12:48 pm

Killing Moon The Soothsayer

He will not beat Rigo in a 100 fights…Don’t be absurd…I have no prob with him taking an ego-booster…But still a fight which is sellable for his fans.

Posted July 14, 2013 12:47 pm

Well the way he was talking the other day if he makes it to 122 and loses he has another built in excuse

Posted July 14, 2013 12:45 pm

big mike

If anything he should be trying to rematch Rigo. Why rematch someone you’ve already beat?
