No shame in losing in great match-ups. We need more top fighters fighting each other.

No this does not need to wait. This will be a good fight to put on an undercard. Gamboa is not gonna build any type of fan base. He doesn’t fight enough. There are not really any top quality known fighters at 130. As when it comes to Arum he like to say let it build up and then he gets his fighter beat.

This is a senseless match-up. Why should both these stars be facing one another at this point of their career? Shouldn’t their star power be built more before this match-up? Because potentially it is a super match-up. Arum is a shady promoter.

i’ll take crawford all day.gamboa’s head is in the clouds.

I don’t think this fight will be as easy as everyone thinks it will be for Crawford. I personally think Gamboa should have fought Mickey Garcia. That’s a fight i’d love to see.

In a few years, Gamboa will be irrelevant.

Crawford will be too much for Gamboa, he will too soundly skiledl, strong and hit too hard. Gamboa inspite of being fast, seems to be all over the place when he is fighting, his boxing doesn`t flow. Crawford is the more allrpund fighter, and will prevail.

Gotta give the edge to Crawford. Both dudes have a ton of talent so I’d have to go with the naturally bigger guy. Gamboa might have more power though so he can’t be counted out. Great matchup but i also think Gamboa needs to fight in the 26-30 range.

Sometimes I don’t quite know what to think of Gamboa. When he first turned pro I thought he was going to be a P4P top fighter, but he seemed to have peaked a little while ago and the inactivity hasn’t helped at all. He has talked about moving to welterweight in the past, but I believe he should go back down to at least 130. I also believe he may be in trouble with Crawford. Gamboa and Guzman are two naturally talented guys that I had high expectations for, but only disappointed.

Allow me to correct myself Mr. Sorby, you did say “many boxing fans see [Crawford] as the best fighter in the division.” My mistake. Your writing still sucks though.

Posted July 11, 2013 10:53 am

BTW, seeing as how Crawford is 2 1/2 ” taller and has 8″ more reach than Gamboa, I’m thinking Crawford is really going to give Gamboa problems.

“I hope Gamboa decides not to take this fight because it’s a bout that would really bolster his credentials as being the best fighter in the lightweight division. If he beats Crawford, then he’d have beaten the guy that many boxing fans see as the best fighter in the division.”

Huh? You mean you HOPE he decides to take this fight since you claim it will bolster his credentials, right? Also Mr. Sorby, if you’re claiming Gamboa is better than Crawford, which you have, then Gamboa wouldn’t have beaten the “guy that many boxing fans see as the best fighter in the division.” Why? Because in your article you just said Gamboa was better than Crawford, so how could Crawford be the best in the division?

Really, Mr. Sorby, your 9th grade penmanship is tiring, and even somewhat hilarious to read. Please proofread your article before you submit it for publication next time.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

It’s nice to see a talent like Crawford outta place like Omaha, NE have some success, exposure and move-up to the top of the LW division.

Gamboa is a really good fighter, but I think that Crawford has too much of a reach advantage and would likely pick him apart from the outside.

If Mike Tyson’s Cuban Mini-Me is going to win this fight, he’d have to keep getting by that jab and straight, stay on the inside and throw power bombs — going for the knock out. Real talk.

Yuri disappoints. He seemed bored in the second half of his last outing.

Great fight!

The Mad Scientist

Gamboa needs to drop back down to 130lbs and take on the Garcia/Martinez winner

Posted July 11, 2013 6:53 am

Gamboa nearly lost his last outing against perez, Crawford should handle him imo.

Posted July 11, 2013 6:46 am

Crawford is a hype job, he ain’t going no where. If Gamboa is focus, he takes him out early. If not, he gets a UD.

Terence Crawford will give Gamboa a beating. Terence has a lot of talent. He will beat any 135-140 pounder and will eventually move up one day to the 147 division. This kid is as talented as anyone out there. He has speed, great boxing skills, can switch from orthodox to southpaw effortlessly. He’s just now coming on the scene, but i don’t think any of the top guys want any part of Terrence Crawford.

Who ever wins, and out of these two I can only see Crawford.Surly to make Broner run in the other direction.

Posted July 10, 2013 9:50 pm

I like Crawford also, heck I like Crawford against anybody at 135. He definitely has the skills and seems to have the chin also

This is definetely bad bad idea for Gamboa, styles makes fights, he should not go for it at this particular juncture.

brick city

Good match up, i like crawford in this fight.

Posted July 10, 2013 9:19 pm

This is a very bad fight for Gamboa. Crawford will dominate him.
