Public Enema.. I’m going to exhume your great grandparents bodies from their graves and defecate all over their faces. What you got to say to that, huh?

I even made a typo in that post. Playing dumb is like method acting: You immerse yourself so deeply in the roll the lines between reality and fiction become blurred. That’s how seriously I take my craft.

The fight was close and who you thought won is more a reflection of your own preferences (volume or quality, defensive moves or pressure, consistent effort or spurts of activity etc). As the article says, credit should go to both fighters for taking on a genuine challenge and giving the fans a great fight. Bad-mouthing one or the other misses the point: boxing needs more fighters like Canelo and Trout and they both deserve respect.

I just watched the fight with and without commentating, and I believe Canelo lost. And I had picked Canelo to win,but the scoring was ridiculous. Chrisodulou need to be banned from scoring fight. trout was much busier, 1 or 2 power punches does not win a fight. Like I said, I picked Canelo to win, but Texas is the most corrupt fight city ever. I though all the Trout fans were crying, but after watching it, trout should have been given the win. GBP couldn’t afford to lose their cash cow. Trout was just being nice in the post fight interview.

he’s crying over the death of PRicaN’T boxing. it only got worse after he woke-up around March 2013 and realized that 2012 wasn’t a terrible nightmare (lol). all he’s got left is bitter piss to keep the “rivalry” going. it’s time for this PR fight-fan to adjust his expectations and begin playing catch-up to Argentina and the Dominican Republic.

Why you crying…??

Canelo’s masterful slipping of Trout punches reminds me of Duran slipping Leonard’s punches in their first fight. I thought Canelo won by a SD and not a UD, but he did win the fight.

Public Enemy you really are a tragic, humourless character.

convincing win for Canelo. Trout was simply unable to consistently score with solid shots. he got Canelo’s attention a couple of times but when Trout flurried, Saul responded with brilliant punch-avoiding head-movement that was reminiscent of prime Duran or Whittaker. turns out Canelo is a “hit without getting hit” kind of guy(?!). Canelo was also able to deck and wobble Trout several times but did fail to close the show, which was dissapointing because i think he could’ve at least twice during the bout. anyway it was an expertly-executed win for Canelo who established his status as top-dog at 154lbs . . . let’s hear the clamor for Trout to face Lara or Thurman.

Posted April 21, 2013 12:53 pm

Trout was confident that he would jab Canelo,s head off and make a fool of him. it did not work out because Canelo slipped all most all of his jabs. Canelo narrowly edge a very good fighter in Trout. However Canelo lacked stamina, gassed out quickly and was not too. Impressive.

Gonzo – are you retarded??? Trout based on compustat numbers outlanded Canelo by a huge margin..

Trout didn’t land a single shot on Canelo throughout the whole fight. He was swiping at thin air all night and looked badly intimidated by his 15 year old rival.

Dang so all u have to do is score a knockdown and land a few flashy punches here and there and its a win? I think Trout got robbed

Even this site is in on the Canelo Hype Machine.. Not a single shot of Canelo getting cleanly hit by Trout.. not one!!! when we all know and saw Trout landing shots all night long.. Body shots, head shots upper cuts. etc etc etc.. not a single shot of Canelo getting tagged by trout not one of Canelo whilting on the Ropes tired as a Chihuahua as Trout landed shots at will…. Shameful how the Boxing Business has turned into a bunch of crooks..

Alvarez “ascend the ladder the right way”? Mr. Matthews, do you believe anybody, even a fan of Alvarez, believes this? Would any fan of Alvarez want him to give the same performance in his next fight (minus these same judges)? Saul was gifted the victory, and it’s apparent that he’s not the talent that Golden Boy and the media have made him out to be.

Those SHO time commentators were Horrible.. made the HBO commentators look like SuperStars.. all you heard was that idiot commentator from the UFC “Canelo this Canelo that, Oh Boy Canelo Canelo Canelo” while totally ignoring all the shots Trout was landing on Canelo even when Canelo was backed up to the ropes wilting while Trout Rained shots on him… shameful night in Texas but as we know that’s how they Jelly Roll…

I just don’t see how canelo could ever LOSE when the guys freakin name is written all over the ring! The judges knew what to do (wink, wink).

Canelo only needed to be standing on his feet to win last night, no matter what happened during the fight. He was outboxed. Trout didn’t pitch a shutout, but he did enough, and had this fight occurred anywhere else USA, he would have lost.

Posted April 21, 2013 10:15 am

Canelo won the fight but is far from being anything special.

Canelo did no better then smaller older worn Cotto did vs Trout.. no better.. the difference was that Canelo and Goldenboy bought themselves some really crooked Judges and made sure the fight was held in the most Crooked state in the US when it comes to Boxing.. TEXAS… at this point Canelo shows he’s still going to be in trouble vs a Quinlin, Lara, Rosado, Martinez even an old shot Cotto… He didn’t show anything that makes anyone believe he’s the next big anything.. got hit way to often and tired way to fast.. couldn’t even finish a hurt Trout with the entire round to go??? Trout actually ended up winning the that round to….

Posted April 21, 2013 9:07 am

“Nathan, Canelo got beat for most of the fight.” No, he didn’t Pete. It appears you are the one who got locked in on the commentators dialogue. Bottom line is that Alvarez was in active- punchwise–and Trout was ineffective. Trout took the loss like a man, and he even admitted that Canelo was much better and more skilled than he thought he was. You should too.

Posted April 21, 2013 9:01 am

Nathan, Canelo got beat for most of the fight. You must have been listening to the showtime announcers and you are living in the twilight zone with them.

Ascend the Ladder the Right Way??? LOL, what nonsense…

As I said, Trout is no better than a C level opponent B level boxer with Zero Power.. this is why Goldenboy agreed to take him on…If Trout was a true KO fighter with the amount of shots he did land Canelo would’ve been KO’d… Canelo looked winded and let featherfisted Trout T-off on him against the Ropes in a few Rounds.. If Trout had any kind of Power he would’ve stopped Canelo.. but it’s Texas man so Trout was fighting Canelo, the Mexican Crowd, the Ref, the Crooked Judges and the Pro Canelo SHO announcers… If the Fight had been in a truelly neutral area with honest judges Trout would’ve been given the win like he got vs Cotto… Nothing spectacular about Trout but he did win more Rounds..
