Tark, gotta agree with you there, no way would it come close to being the best ever Brit win for a multitude of reasons. For one thing Murray isn’t even a top 100 fighter out o the uk, and I don’t care who he beats in a one of fight

I think Martin has a better chance against Martinez than several of Martinez’s last opponents–including Chavez Jr. Why? Because Martinez is coming off a couple of serious injuries. It remains to be seen how well Sergio will perform after rehabilitating from those injuries. In his fight with Chavez Martinez received “eight stitches to repair a cut over his left eye, two staples in his head, and suffered from both a broken left hand and torn ligaments in his right knee” (The Ring). For a guy that won a fight decisively, he sure got beat up. We’ll see how his hand has healed, whether he favors it, and how he moves on that repaired knee. After all, a very big part of Sergio’s boxing style is his movement.

tszyu’s crushed gonads

Quick….somebody sober Hatton up. One more time loser, you didn’t beat Tszyu…you & Parris beat Tszyu, and barely at that. That is all.

Murray is paying almost $6 on the Oz betting sites!
I don’t think Murray hits hard enough to really upset the bandwagon, but he may be able to outwork Martinez if the champ’s age starts to show (and Murray’s chin seems more than sturdy enough to get through the fight).

Mick the Marmazer

Doe’s anyone know the odds? It could be a good outside bet. Just think back to John H.Stracey/Jose Napoles, Lloyd Honeyghan & Randolph Turpin/Suger Ray Robinson!

Murray “could” get Martinez “at the right time ”

That time would be while Martinez is sitting on the toilet

. . . . . And Murray with a claw hammer

Nopporn – hi there. Yeah good to see you are still on ESB

Err yeah Ricky, unfortunately Murray won’t have the ref in his corner. When he starts getting a boxing lesson like you did, he won’t be able to head butt, push, elbow and 100% intentionally hit Martinez in the nuts while not receiving a warning, have points deducted or be DQ’ed. Martinez has fought more than 3 rounds in 3 years also and isn’t on home soil.

I would say if Murray beat Martinez it would be a great victory… It wouldn’t be the greatest British victory ever because Martinez is 38 years old.

Julio Cesar Chavez almost caught up with Martinez in his last fight, by absorbing everything Sergio could throw and coming on like gangbusters in the 12th round. That fight might have signaled the beginning of the end for Martinez. In my view Martinez won all of his 54 fights.

Murray will get knocked out in this fight. No doubt about it.

Murray is good, but the only way he beats Sergio is if Father Time catches up with Martinez.

Martinez should win. He is on home soil and is probably a level above Murray. Murray is a decent fighter at world level, but Martinez (even at this age) is still too good for the likes of Murray. Every advantage seems to be with Martinez …. the only advantage I see Murray having is age but that wont be enough. Martinez on points or another late stoppage.

Martin beating Martinez in Argentina would by far surpass Hatton beating Kostya Tszyu.Kostya had been very inactive for 3 years prior to Hatton head butted him in to submission in Ricky’s own back yard,Murray will need a KO to get a draw over there, hope Murray puts in a good show and gets a crack at Chavez jr some how, think he would have a better chance to get the ‘W’ in that one.

As good as Martin is hefights at one pace and does not have the second or third gear to trouble Martinez, who know’s though maybe that’s something he’s been working on to surprise Marvilla?
