Are you having a laugh. Tyson furys the bottle job giving his British and commonwealth titles up just so he didn’t have to fight David price.

Hahahaha thanks for the joke of the day, Box Smart. Can I sue you for all the medical I need. My sides have split and my head has fallen off because I laughed so hard.

I think Price and Fury both beat Povetkin NOW …… Wladimir would still be the pair of them though. Vitali is retired now I think … or is about too.

Posted December 19, 2012 11:43 am

@ Swedish boxing Fan: Option 3 seems off.Just read that the WBA has ordered a mandatory defence between ‘champ’ Povetkin and ‘Superchamp’ Wlad in Feb 2013. Both parties need to agree on terms by 2nd half of January or there will be a purse bid

About Price: good move. He lost a lot of years, but now he seems to be willing to fighht regularly and he is stepping up competetion. If he beats Thomspn he comes into my top 10

Posted December 19, 2012 10:43 am

Yeah that is disrespectful considering the man died shielding his daughter from gunfire.

Another old guy. He will need to face a Klit after this

Well if Tyson Fury becomes world heavyweight title champion inside 3 fights in a near future, it can only mean in some of this alternatives – 1. He defeats Wladimir Klitschko for his world titles (WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO, Lineal) = Not a chanse on this earth he will defeat Wladimir and Fury just ducks him annnyway. 2. He defeats Vitali Klitschko (WBC) = Same thing there, he has NO chanse. 3. He defeats Alexander Povetkin for the paper WBA title belt = Could happen but not likley and the title belt is not worth any credit or respect as he is no champ. 4. Tyson Fury waits out Vitali Klitschko and wins a vacant title after the elemination contests for the belt = Could happen, but the winner never won the title from Vitali who ended up retireing at age 43 and still champ as well a respected champion so Fury would get little recognition for the title and that he just waited out and never fought Vitali in first place would hunt him for years.

Yes, Skelton may have tagged Price with a couple shots. But Pajkic with his 20% KO ratio put Fury on his back with a right hand my great grandmother could have seen coming. AND She could have avoided it!! AND John Mcdermott beat Fury soundly and got robbed. And Price KOd Mcdermott in 73 SECONDS!!!!! AND Price has already beat fury by about 20 points in the amatuers. Fury, the man who lets rip with h0m0ph0bic rants ON LIVE TV, then denies saying it even though millions of people seen and heard him!

Posted December 19, 2012 7:24 am

Thompson is better than the non-punching Johnson who Fury beat a few weeks back. People like box smart are just morons! You watched your hero run from price like a scared school girl running from jimmy saville, then you say he is better than price, price is stiff, price has no chin blah blah blah. Do you hear yourselves?

Posted December 19, 2012 7:15 am

Box Smart ………… i have to admire your tallent. How do you manage to w4nk Fury off with 2 hands and your mouth wide open and eyes closed, and type at the same time?

Posted December 19, 2012 7:11 am

Thompson was never that good anyway …. BUT he is in most top-10 ratings and that is a good step up for Price. It is as good a matchup as Fury-v-Johnson was. Wilder; take note … time to step up.

Posted December 19, 2012 5:45 am

Good fight. Although Thompson is not as good anymore as he used to be I definitely still rate him higher then Skelton and Harrisson. Expect Price to win though. Hope Thompson does not come in totally overweight

Posted December 19, 2012 5:31 am

Now, that is step in the right direction. Tony is about as good as its gets in the USA. Price-Thompson 2013!

Posted December 19, 2012 4:02 am

Upto now I think Prices opponent-level has always been a step behind Furys …. but this matchup, if he wins, makes them even.

Hey, that’s my Bike!!!

I’m loving the desperation in Box Smart comments. He knows when Price beats Thompson, that Price has stepped well above anybody that Fury has faced. I guess that is what Fury gets for ducking and running when he had the chance to defend his titles, instead of squawking like a chicken and hiding in the hills.

Tony Thompson is old, but hopefully he can cause an upset and smash Price’s jaws into tiny bones.

Posted December 19, 2012 12:42 am

Would love to see Helenius Price Wilder and Fury mix it up in 2013…………I think Price would smash all of them. Wilder has more potential than Fury and Helenius but is still too raw. He needs to step up the level of competition.

Posted December 19, 2012 12:10 am

AWESOME FIGHT. Just as I was begining to think Price was not stepping it up he takes on a previous contender. This should be mandatory, all contenders should at least fight previous contenders to prove they are better than some of Wlad previous opposition. Tony physically very similar to Harrison but with alot more skill. Should be a good show but Price will win. Fury if he was serious would go out there and fight Wach.

Posted December 19, 2012 12:02 am

This is a good match-up for Price. It will show us more overall what kind of fighter Price is.A win here dosent mean hes ready for a k-bro. a big quick k.o. might mean Price is very dangerous more scarey then we even think. And a lost means bye-bye Price. So this aint a bad measuring stick and a win here will move him to the next step nicely.

“And they talk about Deotay Wilder fighting weak opponents!”

They sure do – Deons resume is a joke. None of Deons opponents – mostly dish washers, tubs of lard, and pt cab drivers – come close to TT. For a big HW with a big right hand, his handlers sure are bringing him along s-l-o-w.

” I’d like to see one of these British “prospects” take on Deontay Wilder and get their asses whooped.” – Unfortunately the closest Wilder gets to Price or Fury is at Twitter. Meantime he’s smacking down punching bags with only one opponent ranked in the top 200. Until Wilder proves he can handle a non-punching bag reasonable minds presume he’s the one who would get his ass beatdown.

Thompson is a good step up from Skelton, But Thompson has zero attitude, and in his last fight with Wlad he looked like he would rather be somewhere else.

Neither one of these guys has a shot at beating either Klitschko. David Price is robotic, lethargic, and simply untalented. He is only being hyped because he is white and British just like Tyson Fury. I’d like to see one of these British “prospects” take on Deontay Wilder and get their asses whooped.

Posted December 18, 2012 6:34 pm

O box smart what planet are you from? Your as diluted as fury yes price is untested but he still is a novice as a pro and had had 5 fights less than fury and looked how he struggled against mc dermount twice it’s was the heat in the stadium not furys “power” and how did price beat him not even broke a sweat mush

Tony “The Tiger” Yhompson is a good heavyweight contender and will be a good test for David Price, altough even if Thompson is still a decent contender he have goten old and with that will not be the samer fighter he was when he fought between 2005-2010 but hey, he is not fallen and I belive he can test Price unless he haven’t been mentaly big hurt after Wladimir Klitschko defeated him for a 2nd time back in July this year and even if Wladimir was in trouble the 1st fight, Thompson was never close in the 2nd and Wladimir both hurt and dominated Thompson for 6 rounds untill he was stoped. I wish Tony Thompson good luck in his upcoming fight with David Price, I will, cheer for the Tiger.

Oh Behave this coming from someone who not long posted that Tyson Fury is the best HW out there and to Quote (will be better than Ali) Of course shots are going to land just like they land on every boxer, it’s how you can take them is what really counts & Price rarely looked bothered by any of Skeltons shots ,he needs a real Test to see how his chin holds up

Posted December 18, 2012 6:08 pm

He could beat Wlad Klitschko now, but why rush him, year or so should be fine.

Posted December 18, 2012 5:52 pm

Skelton was roughing him up landing right hands Price was on the ropes with his chin in the air anyone with skill and power would of had Price in a world of trouble. he was lucky Skelton couldn’t punch the skin of a turd

Posted December 18, 2012 5:51 pm

This is a decent opponent for an up and comer they are using the Helenius model to bring Price along… A few dead men (Harrison and now Thompson) ….Thompsons done he is over 40 and he is coming of yet ANOTHER KO loss to Wlad Klits… We are supposed to possibly watch Price dispatch him and then say, WOW!!!!! “He looks like Wlad doing that”….Tony has NOT beat a really good opponent in EONS but Price needs the rounds so let him go bash the old man…

Posted December 18, 2012 5:43 pm

The USA number 1 heavyweight, Price wins in 3.

Posted December 18, 2012 5:32 pm

This is definitely a good step in the right direction for Price. Thompson will not come into shape but he is still a powerfull puncher.
This will show us something about Price

Good match. Price is ramping up his comp now. It’s laughable some Americans try to put Wilder on par with him as a prospect.

Posted December 18, 2012 5:21 pm

Thompson may be a tad past his best, but he is one of the toughest opponents Wlad has faced (this certainly isn’t the golden 70’s heavyweight era that’s for Good match up, and I love the fact Price has been keeping busy lately. An impressive win over Tony and Price will suddenly be considered a serious contender, and not just by the Brits.

Posted December 18, 2012 5:12 pm

Not impressed

Posted December 18, 2012 4:50 pm

ok hes fighting Thompson, good, if he beats thompson and beats him even more convincingly then Wlad I think he should call out Helenuis, then if the beats him I think he will be as ready as anyone can be prepared for to fight Wlad, because lets face it, there is no one around to get any kind of experience that will really prepare you for Wlad, so why wait I say..

Posted December 18, 2012 4:12 pm

This is a good step in class for price and a real test I think he should get through this ok and hopefully get a few rounds too. As for you box smart at least price will fight someone attempting to win “world class ” kingpin barley threw any punches in that fight even less than Skelton for that

I agree with Neil and like this matchup. Thompson is a bit old and slow, but he can fight and is the best opponent Price has faced yet. Excellent matchmaking and it seems like they’re developing Price and stepping up his competition just right.
